Tanna's Exxon Reviews (1)

Review: On 5/1/13 at 4:23 PM, I stopped by Tanna's Exxon in [redacted] to fill my gas tank. Upon swiping my card, the pump display asked if I'd like to purchase a car wash as well. So, I went ahead and added a $10 car wash onto the price of my gas. At no point was it advertised anywhere that the automated car wash was broken/not working properly. After waiting 20 minutes in line for the car wash, I finally went through. The quality of the car wash was an absolute joke and was criminal that they were charging people. I purchased the most expensive wash and my car just as dirty as before I entered. The problems were that: 1) there was practically no soap used, 2) the rinse spray was obviously broken because it couldn't even wash the negligible amount of soap off of my car, and 3) most importantly, the wash stopped half way through the process and didn't dry my car (the drying blower never even deployed). When I entered the station to speak to the cashier to get my money back, there were already two people in there also trying to get reimbursed as well. I (as well as the two other individuals) told the cashier that the car wash was broken and I wanted my money back in the form of a $10 refund. He told me that his car wash was fine (which obviously wasn't true because everyone was trying to get their money back). I explained to him that it was broken and was poorly washing and entirely NOT drying anyone's car (as in, the dryer mechanism never even deployed to attempt to dry the car; the car wash just ended after it sprayed your car). After I asked him again for my money back, he told myself along with the others that it was their company policy that they don't give refunds for the car wash but that he'd give me a ticket to get another car wash (what a joke, their car wash is broken why would I want another!). I explained to him that NO WHERE does it explain that the car wash was not functioning properly and that if it doesn't work, they should not be advertising that it does and taking people's money. I then told him I was going to call the Revdex.com if he didn't give me my money back. He told me that he would not return my money and that he didn't care if I called the Revdex.com. I then left.Desired Settlement: I'd like for Tanna's Exxon to be forced to stop being able to offer car wash services (and subsequently profiting) from their car wash if it is in fact broken. They should not be allowed to offer those services if they are not providing the inherent service which people are paying for. If they want to refund me the $10, that's fine. However that is not my utmost concern (I also plan to dispute the charges with my credit card company). My concern is that they are defrauding people of their money with no accountability for their actions or the quality of their services which they are in fact advertising.

I am rejecting this response because:

I reject this because the owner did not say anything of value or action in his response. His only response was that he was disappointed that I "felt the need to complain" but took no blame for the issues and offered no resolution or constructive response to prevent further occurrences. All his response consisted of was unverifiable and subjective (likely falsified) "facts" such as: 1) that he has his car wash routinely inspected and stocked with wax and soap by [redacted] (no proof was given nor would this guarantee that an issue could not have occurred) and then just started listing off [redacted] company details. Listing off how many factory-trained technicians that [redacted] has is irrelevant. This is just side-stepping the issues. 2) He says 90% of his customers are from the neighborhood and returning customers. Again, this is unverifiable and more importantly, irrelevant to my complaints. 3) His car wash is one one of the "best" neighborhood car washes in [redacted] Again, this is subjective, unverifiable, and irrelevant to the matter at hand.
