Tanzania Davis, D.D.S., P.C.

Several weeks ago while taking my daughter to a dental appointment at the office of Tanzania Davis, D.D.S., P.C. Cosmetic Dentistry [redacted]. I ask the receptionist about their cost for teeth whitening. She informed me that they were then running a special on the laser treatment or the (1 hour teeth brightening) option. She indicated that it was only $250 compared to the alternative which could cost up to $400. I’m fairly sure that it was that day, if not, not longer than a day or two I scheduled an appointment for that treatment. I then ask if they could also schedule a cleaning appointment before or on the day of the treatment which needed to be done anyway. I was informed that there were know teeth cleaning appointments available until August.

My appointment date was roughly 1 to 2 weeks away on June 25, 2013 at 10a.m. I called earlier that morning to ask if anyone had canceled their teeth cleaning appointment so that I might be able to fill their slot. I was informed to the contrary. So at about 9:30 I showed up for my 10am appointment and was taken back at about 10:15. The hygienist informed me that she would show me a video of the types of brightening and that I would be required to choose one afterward.

After the video I was informed that I hadn’t been to that office in a couple of years and that I would need to have some preliminary work done before we could get started, i.e. (cleaning, exam and x-rays). The treatment would have to be done at another date. Furthermore, the style of brightening that I was scheduled for was recommended as a follow up treatment of the more thorough treatment which required a mold of my teeth excreta.

I informed the hygienist that that was not in the position to pay for anything other than what I was scheduled for and had no intention of paying for the $400 treatment as appose to the $250. She then sent me to speak with the receptionist. The receptionist really didn’t have a clue as to what to do about the situation so I ask to speak with Ms. Davis. She informed me that this was a requirement before they could proceed with any treatment because of problems that could arise.

I suggested that I could have been informed within the two week waiting period instead of allowing me to take a day off from work for a treatment that I could not get. Ms. Davis simply dismissed my concern about my wasted time as if I was silly for not understanding her position to pay for services I didn’t want or intended to pay for.
