The tow truck driver was extremely rude and unwilling to answer pertinent questions about cost associated with the towing and storage feeMy motorcycle was involved in an accident around 430 on Monday June 1 2015. The bike was towed bease the driver was taken to the hospital. After the leaving the hospital I called the tow truck driver to inquire about picking the bike and cost. I was told I needed to get that information from a 3rd party who had obviously inquired on my behalf. I asked if he could just provide me the information since I was the owner of the motorcycle. His reply was I am working I don't have time for this do you want to pick it up.I said yes and inquired about the cost for the towing which was $270.00 and it had only been towed about 8 miles. Because that was a lot more than I was expecting I asked about storage fee. I asked what would be the charge if I picked it up that next morning since we were having this conversation about 830pm and just leavin the ER. He said yes there probably would be. So asked well what would the charge be and his response was I don't know. I asked why was the tow charge so much to which he said that the max the city will allow that's why he charged it. Finally I said I wanted to pick the bike up and he said well I'm out you can go to the lot and wait. I asked if he could call me when he was headed that way to which he said no, I'm not calling you back you need to just go wait. After about a 10 minute conversation of just unnecessary attitude, I asked his name and he hung up in me. I went to the lot waited about 45 min for him to arrive and when I got there, I provided him the necessary paperwork and if we could have a civilized conversation now in which he told me I don't have anything to say. I tried asking the same questions also asked for his name and the owners name with still no answers. My boyfriend was handing him my card and his was response was who's card is it and he said it hers and with an attitude said let me check it. At that point I took my card from him and left. I go to pick up the bike the next morning around 930 am and the charge went up to $305.00. The charge included $165.00 tow, $55.00 extra man, $35.00 storage, and $50.00 gate fee.The man I deat with ar the lot when I picked up was pleasant and very proffesional, the tow truck driver was rude especially to a woman, evasive about the charges, and just simply unprofessional.Desired SettlementI would like an explanation of the charges and for other customers to know the type services that are provided by Tarheel Towing.Business Response /[redacted]/To Whom It May Concern,On June 01, 2015 Tarheel Towing was contacted by Durham Police to assist in removing a vehicle involved in accident. The vehicle requiring towing/recovery services was a motor cycle. The driver for this vehicle needed medical attention. As a result of the driver requiring medical assistance and being removed from the scene of this accident, the motor cycle was transported and stored in Tarheel Towing Storage Lot. Later in the evening, well after office and the storage lot closing hours Tarheel Towing was contacted. The caller inquired about retrieving the vehicle/motorcycle. At the time this call was received, the nearest tow truck driver was already assigned and completing another call. Tarheel Towing dispatcher endeavored to assist this caller with an afterhours request. The caller was connected with afterhour's personnel. The on-duty person informed the caller of Tarheel Towing office hours being 8am-5pm. Office hours are the standard time for vehicles owners and legal possessors to retrieve vehicle from storage. In addition to the caller informing Tarheel Towing's driver that she wish to retrieve the vehicle this date, she asked about the cost. The driver informed this person on this call as to cost for removing vehicle from storage. The total cost provided to the caller were standard charges and consistent for towing a vehicle of this type in these circumstances. The afterhour's on-duty personnel attempted to expedite the callers request for immediately retrieving the vehicle on June 01, 2015. The driver informed this caller to meet at the storage, and if necessary wait for his arrival. The caller asked the on-duty person to call when they were in route to the storage lot. As a result of the on-duty person already being involved in another assignment and attempting to accommodate the caller's request, the caller was informed they would not be able at that moment to call. The on-duty person was trying to provide attention to the present assignment and customer's needs. The caller persisted in having a conversation that was becoming argumentative and elevated. As a result of the on-duty person's location, safety, and protection for property in the current assign the called held. Upon arrival to Tarheel Towing storage lot the caller was there. The caller was a female who again exerted into an argumentative tone during the conversation. She further stated that I should not say the word "What" to her again. During the conversation the on-duty person addressed payment prior to releasing the vehicle. A card was provided. The on-duty person asked "Who card is this?" The question is appropriate and consistent with guideline for processing any card for payment and must be accompanied with i3entification from name on the card/owner.. The female attempting get possession of the vehicle/motorcycle snatched the card from the on-duty person's hand then left the area. The female return on June 02, 2015 and was identified as Mrs. [redacted]. She met with Tarheel Towing office personnel. Mrs. [redacted] provided documents for the vehicle then paid cash. A receipt reflecting all cost was provided to Mrs. [redacted] and the vehicle was released

The driver quoted my husband an amount but then charged $55 more for not having a key, which he never mentioned or asked for. When we left Tarheel Towing, I told the person at the desk that I would be filing a complaint. I later misplaced the receipt and came across it this week. The date was 8/24/12. The receipt number is 4929 and the name on the receipt is [redacted].My husband was in an accident. The police officer insisted the truck be removed before my husband could make other arrangements. My husband talked with the Tarheel Towing driver and asked about the charges. He quoted $125 and $25 for storage. We stopped by the ATM and went straight to the [redacted] Old [redacted] Rd Ste H location to pick it up with a friend who had AAA towing. When we got there, they charged us $125, $25, PLUS $55 for not having a key, which the driver never mentioned or asked for. When we tried to talk with the man at the desk, he was rude and his only response was that the driver did not need to ask for the key and that the law allowed for the charge. This is not the way to run a decent business. Desired SettlementI want them to be held accountable for their underhanded way of making money. Rather than being helpful during times of need, they take advantage of the situation and look for ways to make money. A refund would definitely be helpful as well.Business Response /[redacted]/Re: Billing ConcernsTo Whom It May Concern,The Revdex.com has just informed us on June 10, 2014 of your concerns regarding a quote and billing for services rendered on August 24, 2012.
