Disagreement with billing charge. Made offer to the offeree, which he accepted but I am still being billed for the remaining difference.
This is in regards to acct # [redacted], In March 2012, I had a dentist appointment with Dr. [redacted] and a few days before my exam, I asked the dental assistant/receptionist to check with my insurance company to see if I would be covered for cleaning and x-rays. When I arrived for my exam, I asked the same dental assistant if everything would be covered and she said yes.

The following month, I was shocked when I received a [redacted] from Dr. [redacted]'s office for $210.00. I contacted my insurance company and found that I had a waiting period for x-ray services and that the $140 charge would be denied. Also, my insurance company denied $55 of the exam and cleaning fees because they exceeded "reasonable and customary charges".

In May 2012, I sent a letter expressing my displeasure to Dr. [redacted] about being billed for the x-rays after the dental assistant told me it would be covered. Included in the communication was a check for $70. I stated in the letter that I would pay for the exam and cleaning charges that were not covered by my insurance company ($55) plus my co-pay ($15) but I would not pay for the x-rays. On the check, and also in the letter, I declared that I considered my account to be paid in full.

I never heard back form Dr. [redacted] but he did cash my check immediately and I assumed the situation was resolved, However, in June 2012, I received a statement from Dr. [redacted]'s office showing that he applied the $70 payment to my account but did not issue a credit for the remaining $140 balance. I wrote another letter demanding credit but the only response I received was a voicemail message from Dr. [redacted] saying that he was sending my account to the collection agency and that "I need to take up with them if I believe these charges were not valid"

In late June 2012, I did receive a letter from the collection agency stating that they would notify national credit agencies if I did not pay this [redacted] in thirty days. I wrote back to the collection agency and explained the situation which I described in the paragraphs above. As of today, I have not heard back from the collection agency but I am still continuing to receive statements from Dr. [redacted]'s office and that it is why I am turning to the Revdex.com.
