warrantied part. In August, our technician tried to repair the part to save the customer money since the cost to replace the part was almost double due to the amount of labor. We understand the customer’s frustration and did not charge them for refrigerant or materials again. We reduced the customary price of $645 to $150 and took a significant loss. On 9/14/15 our technician, Ivan, replaced the reversing valve and the unit is working. We have maintained contact with the customer and resolved their issues in a timely manner. We appreciate their business and deeply apologize for the problems we have run into with this equipment.Thank you for your help.

Have used Tate's AC for the past few years, they came highly recommended from a friend, and my family has had 3-4 houses service by them. At first, great service, timely etc.

2013, compressor went out, Tate's replaced compressor under warranty, just charged labor/free-on.

2014, problems started. We had a compressor fan motor start to go out, unit ran and cooled, but you could hear the fan bearing going. Preemptively, had the motor replaced by Tate's. The next day, came home from work, house is hot. Take a look at the unit, and the motor had torqued out and ripped through the thin metal top cover of the unit. The fan blades were destroyed, and the unit was hanging on my one bolt resting against the inner walls of the unit. The motor had been mounted to the top cover with bolts, no washes, no reinforcements. Called Tate's. They came out the next day, and replaced the fan motors. They warrantied the fan blades, but charged me the hourly rate to fix and replace. That should have been my red flag right there. I was stupid and paid it. Soon after, I came home, house is hot. Tate's came over, and couldn't find anything wrong with the unit. Sprayed the whole unit down, blamed excess dust on the unit causing overheating. Summer ended.

In the last 13 months, they have come to my house 6 times. Every time, I would come home, house blowing ambient/hot air. I would turn off the unit, and it would sit off for hours prior to them coming. Every time they came out, either couldn't find an issue, or found something that MAY have been the problem. Capacitor reading high on resistance test (but within spec), said it may be the cause, replaced and charged. Insulation restricting air flow, removed, charged. Low batteries in thermostat, etc etc.

Yesterday, came home after a year of the AC not having an issue (approximately 4 months of it actually being on). HOT house. Called Tate's at 5:44 PM, left a message. This morning, called Tate's at 8:31, left a message. Had my wife call, she got through to someone, said that they can't come today, could come tonight in overtime hours. I called Tate's then. At this point, I am beyond frustrated and fed up with these people. I was told they didn't get either of my calls or messages (though they had the phone on since 7:30). I can see missing one call, but I left a message on two separate numbers, and they answered both I had tried (my wife's call was toone, my third to the other). I was told the same as my wife. They are fully booked, only available for overtime.

I laid it out. I believe they have not fixed or found whatever is wrong with my unit, or worse. I will not pay them to come look at my unit, and then it fail AGAIN. I understand lots of things can fail, but at some point, going to someones house 6 times in a year for the exact same call, to respond to the EXACT same issue and symptoms, something is up with either their service level or their ethics. All the major components have been checked or replaced in the last 3 years, and I have had malfunctions for the last 2 years. As far as I am concerned, my unit worked prior to the fan motor replacement, and has not worked consistently since. I told the person on the phone, I wont pay for it not not get fixed. You can come out and send me a bill, and in a month and my AC is still blowing cold, I'll happily pay. In my eyes, Tate's AC has not provided the service I have paid them for, and they have stolen that money from me. I informed them, if they do not make it right, I will inform every person I am able to that they should not use Tate's AC. Well, here I am, writing my first online review. This has made me so incredible upset, that I am willing to look like a whiner, entitled brat, ignorant it, whatever. I could have been halfway to a brand new unit for all the money I have wasted on getting my AC "fixed". My house is 95 degrees. My wife and infant are having to stay somewhere else. Maybe they got too big, and they don't need to rely on quality or lasting work. It really does disappoint me to write this, as I liked their company so much when we started with them. Now I have to try to find another AC guy.

Review: On 05/11/2011 Tate's A/C installed a new 5 ton [redacted] air conditioning unit with a 10 year warranty. worked great! On 08/23/2015 we called Tate's because our A/C unit was no longer cooling the house. [redacted] showed up and after inspecting the unit, he told me the unit had no Freon in it. Leak was on top small tube on reversing valve. Told me he was going to solder the tube and refill the unit with Freon. I asked him if this was covered by our warranty and he told me no. He charged me $75 for the service call, $30 for materials and $300 for the Freon. After he finished I paid him and he left. On 09/02/2015 we noticed our house was getting hotter. We called Tate's and they sent [redacted] again. After checking the unit, he told me that the same tube had cracked again where he had soldered it. He soldered it again, and refilled the unit and told me there would be no charge. Yesterday (09/10/2015) our house started getting hotter again. Called Tate's and they sent out Brad to check the unit out. He told me that the tube had cracked out again and they would have to replace the whole part. He also told me that we would have to pay for the part, labor and the Freon. Total cost $645! My wife tried calling the owner, [redacted], but he won't return our calls. We have left messages etc. My wife has been dealing with [redacted] in the office and she has been trying to help us out. But her hands are tied. She also told us that the part that needs replacing is a warranty part! We feel that Tate's has been stringing us along and has been doing repairs that they knew wouldn't work. All about the almighty dollar!Desired Settlement: Since the part is covered by the warranty, we would like them to replace the damaged part and refund us the money for the repair they attempted on 08/23/2015. And an apology.
