Tatnuck Arms/Northland Community

The Tatnuck Arms community manager [redacted] is treating consumers in an unfair and deceptive manner. I filled out an application to move in on [redacted] which was accepted. The apartment I was to rent was occupied so I was unable to see it prior to moving in so I saw a similar unit. I advised [redacted] that I would be renting the unit for myself and my two daughters. My home is currently under foreclosure and I was counting on this apartment for us to reside in. The manager [redacted] changed the rent amount and move in date three times with me either by phone or email. First the apartment was [redacted] with a move in date of [redacted] then it was [redacted] with a move in date of [redacted] and now somehow the apartment is available for [redacted] and move in is [redacted] I have been told by others she often operates in this manner. When I was able to give the deposit she informed me the apartment was no longer held for me. This is an extremely unfair way to treat an applicant especially given my circumstances. I asked if she could allow me to rent the apartment for the agreed upon amount and move in date she declined stating that she has no control over the rent and it can change on a daily basis.Desired SettlementI would like the manager to uphold our verbal agreement on rent amount and move in date so that myself and two daughters do not end up homeless.Business Response The item referenced on the attached complaint has been resolved. The complainant was directed to our written policies on the application and statement on rental criteria wherein it is disclosed that without a deposit we cannot hold rent rates. My family is dealing with an extreme hardship currently and Tatnuck Arms/Northland has not made this a smooth transition at all. I find that their rental practices are very deceptive every time I think the rent amount or move in date is secure it once again changes. I am very disappointed and really look forward to living in the community because it appears to be a very well kept complex and I have family that lives there. I've never dealt with an apartment community that treats the consumer so unfairly.
