Complaint: I am rejecting this response because: To start with similar products fees are not assessed until after the proposed amendment has been signed and filed with the IRSIn this case nothing was signed and nothing was filedAlso all the information needed to determine weather or not an amendment was necessary was on the tax return that was already preparedLine by line the tax return had already been prepared by me and she had the full tax return emailed to her in PDF formatShe could have made a determination by reading the tax return provided to herLast if an amendment was prepared then why didn't she ask for payment at the time the supposed service was provided? With any other business establishment payment is due upon completion of the serviceL [redacted] stated that she was going to evaluate our tax return to see if an amendment was warranted, it was determined that it was not because our deductions did not total an amount above the standard deduction, so no amendment was preparedIt was not until AFTER we decided to not go with her business to prepare our taxes that she informed us that an invoice existedI was confused as to what we were being billed for so I wanted to see exactly what we were being billed for before making a paymentI did not receive an invoice until two weeks later via postal service that I saw an itemized invoice of charges, that included a late fee and service charge Regards, H [redacted]

In regards to MsN***'s complaint of invoicing for a service that was never rendered I completely disagreeMsN [redacted] originally had an appointment at our office on the 20th and emailed me late on the 19th, after office hours to cancel itI then emailed her back & rescheduled her for the 27thMsN [redacted] emailed me years’ worth of tax returns to possibly amend and I responded back via email that, for refund purposes, only years back would she be able to receive any refund due to herWhen MsN [redacted] states that "I took a look at her taxes", I disagree with that as well Before I started to enter any information, I stated to MsN [redacted] and her husband that I would charge them $for each year that I’d amend for them MsN [redacted] then said that I should amend 2016, and go from thereI then entered information line by line to match her original income tax return and amended the return in front of her and her husband The fact that they did not benefit from mailing the amended return, does not mean I did not provide the service I invoiced her forAfter seeing that she would not benefit from amending her tax return, she then handed me their tax forms so I could prepare their current year income tax return They were missing information so they told me they were going to get back with itMs N [redacted] never called our office back, though she did email me on January 31st and told me she would not go forward and file her return with meI, in turn emailed her back, thanking her for letting me know and informed her of their balance due for her amendmentI emailed her my invoice for $and let her know we take payments over the phone, the reason for this was, neither she nor her husband came to pick up their paperwork, she emailed me telling me a friend would be picking it up for herThey were fully aware that would charge them $for each returnThe last thing I heard from her via email, was that she would take care of the invoice, if she did not agree on the price she should have called me and we could have come to an agreementCommunication is key in any business transaction

I'm voiding her invoice (attached) because I don't have the time to continue disputing this complaint. Nevertheless, I do not agree with it, because of the following:She canceled her first appointment the night before the appointment dateShe originally emailed me years of Income Taxes, the night before her second appointmentThen, when I said refunds would only be for three years back, she said for me to amend only three yearsThen she asked for me to prepare only 2016, after I informed her that it would cost $per year, per returnI went ahead and started entering her tax return, line by line, in front of her and her husband. Any tax expert knows that in order to amend a tax return, you have to actually enter the original into a blank format, to match it exactly to the pennyThen, amend it to see if there's a difference. In her case, there was no difference. But If I had not amended it, she wouldn't have known that there was no need to file the amendmentI was not going to charge her for the preparation of the amendment, as a courtesy, because I was also going to prepare her income tax return. But once she emailed me; to have her paperwork ready to be picked up by a friend, because she was going to prepare it through Turbo Tax, I emailed her right back letting her know that there was an outstanding bill of $for my time and serviceShe emailed me right back and said that she was going to take care of it. (I do keep all my emails in case she does not remember)If she had called me or come to my office and talked to me about it, personally, we would have come to a mutual agreement. I have a very good record of satisfied customers. In conclusion, her complaint shows her disregard towards my time and service. She does not value my time (especially during my busy season) and it is disappointing

Complaint:
I am rejecting this response because:I informed her of my inability to make my original appointment the day before as soon as I knew that I would be unable to make the appointment there's no possible way for me to have let her know any sooner than I didThere is also no statement where it says there nerds to be a certain amount of time for a rescheduleIt seems she has become petty because our choice to use another serviceBy her own admission she did not do any amendment to my tax returnShe stated that there was no difference so no amendment was needed. She stated that no fee was going to be assessed at the time but decided after we changed our minds about what direction we were going to go to bill usThis is not an ethical business practiceIt proves that she decided to bill out of spite of our change of mindChanging our minds is well with in our rightsShe stated that preparing an amendment would cost $but, again by her own admission, no amendment was needed, we should not have been billed regardless if we had our taxes prepared by her or notShe stated we have a disregard for her timeThis isn't the caseHad she performed and submitted an amendment we would have gladly paid the $But again no alteration to our taxes were made and no amendment was submitted to the IRS. It's clear to me through this correspondence that her stance on the matter would not have changed if I had time to come and speak to her in personAs it stands I have a busy schedule where my open slots are either every early in the morning or late evening when businesses are usually closedIt's very clear to me that her idea of ethical business practices are lacking.Regards,

In regards to Ms. N[redacted]'s complaint of invoicing for a service that was never rendered I completely disagree. Ms. N[redacted] originally had an appointment at our office on the 20th and emailed me late on the 19th, after office hours to cancel it. I then emailed her back & rescheduled her for the...

27th. Ms. N[redacted] emailed me 5 years’ worth of tax returns to possibly amend and I responded back via email that, for refund purposes, only 3 years back would she be able to receive any refund due to her. When Ms. N[redacted] states that "I took a look at her 2016 taxes", I disagree with that as well.  Before I started to enter any information, I stated to Ms. N[redacted] and her husband that I would charge them $150 for each year that I’d amend for them.  Ms. N[redacted] then said that I should amend 2016, and go from there. I then entered information line by line to match her 2016 original income tax return and amended the return in front of her and her husband.   The fact that they did not benefit from mailing the amended return, does not mean I did not provide the service I invoiced her for. After seeing that she would not benefit from amending her 2016 tax return, she then handed me their 2017 tax forms so I could prepare their current year income tax return.  They were missing information so they told me they were going to get back with it. Ms N[redacted] never called our office back, though she did email me on January 31st and told me she would not go forward and file her 2017 return with me. I, in turn emailed her back, thanking her for letting me know and informed her of their balance due for her 2016 amendment. I emailed her my invoice for $150.00 and let her know we take payments over the phone, the reason for this was, neither she nor her husband came to pick up their paperwork, she emailed me telling me a friend would be picking it up for her. They were fully aware that would charge them $150.00 for each return. The last thing I heard from her via email, was that she would take care of the invoice, if she did not agree on the price she should have called me and we could have come to an agreement. Communication is key in any business transaction.
