Taxes & Accounting Xclusive Service

I wrote a review earlier that was not glowing. I did have a bad experience using the TaxAct Free product but the paid product is very good and cheap compared to the other tax preparer software programs. Since I've used the paid product for years and it has always worked well for me I will give the free product a pass this time. The paid program is a good program and well worth the money.

I have bought and used TaxAct for many years. Last year my money was tight so I tried to use the free service. No matter how many times I did the return it always showed me owing money when I knew I didn't owe any. I finally bought the program and it computed it correctly the first try. No money owed.

This year I tried the free one again. It came out wrong twice. Once it entered numbers in two different places when it should have only been once. The second time it added up four $0. boxes and came up with $4 that I supposedly owed, which I knew I didn't. When I tried to correct the error the program would not let me e-file the form because I manually made a change to fix an error. This year I wised up and am not going to pay for the program. I will use someone else's services and I will be sure to tell everyone I know about my experience with this company. By the way, my niece had the same problems with TaxAct free. I don't know how she decided to file her taxes this year.

The IRS is sending people to this company and is probably paying them money to do and e-file people's taxes. If we, the taxpayers, are paying for this service, we are not getting our money's worth.
