TaxTrim Reviews (5)

I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail with TaxTrim. Charlie and Barbara were so courteous and knowledgeable and provided insightful feedback throughout the entire process. With their help we were able to reduce our assessment significantly and save $775 annually. I recommend them with highest marks.

I was first contacted via postcard by TaxTrim with the offer of their services for challenging my property tax assessment towards the end of 2014. At the time, I knew that my taxes were high, however I had no idea how much higher they were compared to my neighbors (due to my excessive assessment). I called the number on the postcard out of curiosity and ended up speaking to Barbara on the phone - she gave me a quick overview of the different options TaxTrim had in terms of providing data and forms for challenging the assessment while informing me that I was over-assessed and had a high likelihood of winning my challenge. I told her I would have to think about it. I will admit that I was initially skeptical that I would be able to successfully challenge the assessment and did not want to waste my time and money.
Over the next few months, Barbara would follow-up on our initial conversation to see if I was still interested. She was never pushy or overly-persistent and I got the clear impression that she was only trying to help me out. I am generally very stubborn when it comes to sales over the phone and can sometimes find it very hard to not get rude when talking to a saleperson but I never got that vibe from Barbara, she was always extremely polite and respectful.
Eventually I came to believe that I was, in fact, very much over-assessed (by ~20%, costing me over a thousand a year). I signed up the $300 package and around a month later was greeted by an email from Charlie with all of the forms and data I would need to send to my assessor for requesting a review. Everything was filled out and the instructions were quite clear. Charlie was also able to answer any questions I had along the way. Looking at all of the information they had sent me, I could tell that it would've taken me 20+ hours of my own time to figure it all out on my own. I cannot stress enough how awesome it was to have someone do this all for me.
Following their instructions, I submitted the forms and was granted a hearing in May of 2015. Unfortunately, the assessment review committee voted to reject by initial appeal based on my "lack of evidence." Seeing as how I had submitted both a comparable sales comparison spreadsheet with data for at least 15 homes and a neighborhood assessment role with data for 20+ comparable homes along with pictures of these homes, I quickly realized that the assessor's office was not going to "roll over" easily and admit to my over-assessment. I called Barbara and Charlie and they recommended I appeal through Small Claims Assessment Review (SCAR). I didn't even know what this was and would have had no idea what to do if not for their assistance.
Charlie prepared and provided all of the forms and instructions for submitting for SCAR within a few days. The instructions weren't simple - I had to mail different combinations of forms to at least 5 different parties (!). The state and local government really do not want to make this easy for you - without TaxTrim's help it is almost guaranteed that I would have messed this part up.
After submitting the forms I was granted a court date with an independent hearing officer (not associated with the assessor's office) to voice my final appeal and either make a deal with the assessor or leave it up to the hearing officer to make the final decision. Armed with all of the data TaxTrim had provided me previously, I arrived at the hearing and was given the opportunity to "make my case" for the hearing officer. The representatives from the assessor's office were then allowed to reply and offer me a deal. While the offer they gave me was nearly 10% lower than my current assessment, I believed it was still too high and denied their offer based on the strength of my own evidence (provided by TaxTrim). It was then left to the hearing officer to make a decision, where he could beat the assessor's offer and award me a lower amount, award me a higher amount, or make no change at all - I would not be able to appeal this decision, this was my final recourse.
Thankfully, a little over a week later I received a notice in the mail from the hearing officer that he had reduced my assessment by nearly 15% of what it was - so by rejecting the offer from the assessor I had gotten my assessment reduced by another 5%. For me, in my county, this means hundred of dollars of additional savings. I was ecstatic! I had challenged the system with clear, concrete data and had won. Thanks to TaxTrim I'll be saving over $1500 a year on my taxes and I couldn't be happier.
Thanks to Barbara and Charlie for making this LONG and, without them, extremely arduous process, a much easier and more manageable one. I would very much recommend their services to anyone looking to save on their own property taxes.

The professionals at TaxTrim were extremely helpful and courteous throughout the entire process. With their help and guidance we were able to lower our assessment and save $775 annually. TaxTrim provided detailed information that my local assessor could not ignore. I was thrilled with TaxTrim

Our property taxes were sky high, we enlisted Tax Trim to help us find a way to get them lowered. They're professional service provided us with the means to present to our town and we were able to bring our taxes down. We are very pleased with the outcome

I want to recommend TaxTrim for those interested in reducing their property assessments. From the very start of the process both Barbara and Charlie were available at nearly any time I needed to have a question answered or guidance as to how to proceed with each step.

The guidance provided was exceptional and very thorough. I utilized the Full Service option ($499) and it was worth the cost. In particular, I was not a full-time resident of the property so it was difficult to work-through the process which included the initial filing of a report, an appeal process and a meeting with the Assessor as the final step.

I was able to be awarded a reduction and it was done in a respectful and professional manner every step of the way.

I would recommmend TaxTrim and am glad I utilized their services.
