Taylor Oil & Propane, Incorporated Reviews (3)

I've had two separate interactions with Taylor Propane from Dover Plains New York that were very unpleasant. The first was at an address where their propane prices were 25% higher than their competitors. The second was a very unscrupulous sales/accounting personal who took advantage of misinformation given by the owner of home we are in contract with. We were informed the propane in the tank that was full was paid for and came with the house. Taylor Propane(Dover Plains NY branch) confirmed the tank was rented but mentioned nothing of the full tank. We have had very good experiences with Bottini and needed a line run for cooking use. But since the tank was full and information from owner explaining it came with the house, we decided to give Taylor Propane another due to the full propane tank, Taylor was informed with this information on two separate occasions and again, mentioned nothing about who owned the propane in the tank. Their tech came to the house, he was great and T'd a line for cooking use. Then we get a bill for propane at top price for a full tank. I called the local branch in Dover Plains and was immediately berated by a female with the following "what, you think the propane is free?" I said the propane in the tank was reported to be ours on two separate occasions and absolutely nothing was said about propane prices during our credit check, our visit to their address on Tinker Town Road or in a subsequent phone call. In my opinion, this was a conscious decision by accounting at Taylor Propane in Dover Plains NY to either double bill for a tank of propane or simple dishonest billing opportunities. The final straw is that the tank was to be picked up and account closed after the holidays.... The woman at Taylor Propane in Dover Plains had the techs pick up the tank the day before Christmas. This is a disgusting energy company and should be avoided at all costs. Their prices are the highest in the area. We've had great experiences with Bottini fuel and will continue our business with them.

Review: I have a propane tank shared by 3 homes. The company services six homes with two tamks on my street. On March 7th the tank went dry and had to be filled. I recived a bill for over $900, which was over triple my next door neighbor, and 40% higher than the highest other bill. Our houses are almost identical (condominiums). After a site visit on March 25 , where they could not explain the descripency in the bills, I sent a letter with comparative data, requesing an explaination. I apid my April bill pending resolution of the situation.

I heard nother except an emailed bill on May 1st with finance charges attached. On May 6th I wrote another letter, reiterating my request of an explanation and included payment in the amount of $548 for the highest other bill assessed to my neighbor in March. I also requested the finance charge be dropped. On June 1st, I received yet another bill noting the payment of $548 and again adding finance charges. To date, the company has made no attempt to communicate with me other than send bills.

I woul like to note that in March when I twice spoke with them by phone, one of the Taylors was very defensive and argumentaive, even insisting he was in the home the day the tank went dry, when in fact, he was not. They have not given me any explaination oteher than the bill is right . I also payed my most recent May bill.

I always pay my bills on time and have an excellant credit rating. I am willing to pay any substantiated bill that is reasonable and in keeping with similar bills. I think, as a customer for 12 years, I amentitled to an answer.

Thank you so very much in mediating this unfortunate situation.Desired Settlement: I an requsting that Taylor Oil accept my paymetn of $548 as paymentin full for the month of March. Theii unresponsiveness and refusal to engage in any dialog now mitagates against me owing them any more money.
