Business Response 10/27/15 - Approval was given to us from Mr. Lowe by him giving us the last 4 digits of social security number (_________) to pull transmission out of his vehicle. The clutch was metal to metal and rear differential was locked up. Mr. Lowe was called and told what our findings were and what the cost would be to repair.Mr. Lowe refused to repair vehicle and was told he owed us for work already done $383.19 minus the payment he made of $150 10/30/15 making the amount owed $233.19. All parts were placed in the back of the pickup. Multiple calls were made to Mr. Lowe to see when he would be here to pick up vehicle (11/23, 11/25, 11/28). On 11/28 Mr. Lowe stated he would be here on 12/1 to pick up and pay balance due.On 12/1/15, we received a call from Mr. Lowe's sister that she would be here to pay the bill on 12/2. Again a no show or no call back. Mr. Lowe came in 12/4/15 to pay & pick up vehicle.By signing the invoice, Mr. Lowe holds Taylor Auto Care hold harmless of any issues concerning the vehicle. Not using the proper part. Not installing correctly.March 2013The owner[redacted] and I had a contract to repair my transmission.About 2 ~ 3 days later,[redacted] called me asking for more money to by a new planetary gear. I had my husband (Boy friend at that time) talked to[redacted] about it. We learned we really didn't have any choice but follow[redacted]'s words.Transmission was repaired, drove to [redacted], IL where we lived. Kept the car local only.My husband got the order to go to[redacted] AFB.Driving down to[redacted] the transmission broke down on the middle of the freeway. Had to rowed to the nearest town which is [redacted], FL. I drove about 6,000 miles after the transmission was rebuilt by Bill Taylor Transmission. We learned Bill Taylor Transmission did not use the new planetary gear. The planetary gear was used and welded, drive nut was on backward.. and etc...When I called[redacted] twice he hangs up on me both times. I called him back an employee answer and put me on hold doesn't pick up the phone. One of the reasons I decided to have Bill Taylor Transmission repair my car because I so the 'Revdex.com Certificate' at the shop. Now I regret that I trusted that Revdex.com certificate.Desired SettlementBill Taylor Transmission did not do what they said they would do.Business Response We installed a rebuilt planetary set in her car..... This is what the transmission industry does . A new planet set would have cost four times as much... Yes all planet pins are welded in place, it makes it stronger. This is the week point I the transmission . I talked to the shop owner that made the repair twice he told me that I did nothing wrong, it's just the weak part of the transmission .... Sorry for the inconvenience for her, if it was still in warranty I would have made repairs under warranty , but she was out of warranty.....Sent from my iPhoneConsumer Response (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)When I received a call from Bill Taylor Transmission last year after we dropped my car at his shop for rebuild the transmission, he asked me for more money to buy a new planetary gear. I had no idea what it was. I asked my husband to talk to him what he says. He said he has to buy one from CA, he'll pay for shipping.I didn't have much choices but do what he said. After I picked up the car I drove up to [redacted] IL where my home was. I kept the car local only. After a while my husband noticed the noise from the car and I had a local mechanic to check the car. He found the transmission was missing, was not attached to the frame properly, bolt was tightened wrong. I talked to [redacted] (Owner of Bill Taylor) and he told me to bring the car. I did. The mechanic from his shop glued the bolt.My husband was sent to [redacted] We drove 500 miles and over night. The next day drove 400 miles the car broke down on the I -75. Had to tow to the nearest transmission place had them repair.I did not know what went wrong until the owner told me to ask refund the money back from whoever did the previous job. I thought I was just out of luck but the job was not properly done and that's what caused the problem.Attached, 1st page : the letter I sent to Bill Taylor transmission,2nd page : statement from my credit card I paid to Bill taylor Transmission3rd page: Receipt from another transmission shop in FL. On the left, there's 3 note from the certified mechanic. If you call him, he'll tell you what happened.[redacted] Transmission packed and gave me all the transmission parts for the evidence. Just in case if I need to take this matter to the court. I'll be reluctant to do that but I will not be afraid of doing so if that's the only choice left for me to do.Thanks.Final Business Response I received a call from Ms. [redacted] regarding her vehicle breaking down on her way to Florida. She had already had it towed to a shop and had them disassemble the transmission. I told Ms. [redacted] had she called me I could have provided help for her as far as getting her vehicle to a local shop and help them to diagnosis the issue even though the transmission was past the 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. After speaking with her I contacted the shop owner at [redacted] Transmission in Florida to find out what was going on with the vehicle. He stated the Planetary Gears had gone down in the transmission. This is a common problem with this transmission type hence the reason it was brought to my shop and repaired in 2012. He also stated that he didn't see where we did anything wrong. As for the planetary gears being welded, they are all welded together. As for the drive nut, whatever that is, can not be placed on backwards because a nut will only go on one way due to the threading inside the nut. When original work was done on Ms. [redacted] vehicle, we installed a rebuilt set of planetary gears as to help keep cost down because a new set would have cost her around $1200 alone. This is a common practice with repair shops in keeping the cost down for the customer at the same time providing the customer with a safe working vehicle. We rebuild several transmissions everyday and have done so for 40 plus years. Very rarely do we have issues but if issues or problems do present themselves the customer has a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty. I tried contacting Ms. [redacted] after speaking with Turner Transmission to explain what was going on with her vehicle and all she wanted to do was argue with me. We are not in the business of not doing what we said we are going to do as Ms. [redacted] states. If that were the case we would not have been around for 40 plus years. We stand behind our work!

Taylor Transmission picked our vehicle up from my home on Friday, June 6, 2014 to repair the transmission. Our vehicle was running, but the transmission was slipping and was advised, by them, that it would be best not to drive it anymore until repairs were done. We paid a $500 deposit, by check to the driver at the time of pickup. The check cleared our bank the next business day. Today is Sunday, July 13, 2014 and we still do not have our truck. delivery dates were promised and never kept. I ([redacted]) made several phone calls to [redacted] inquiring about the status of our vehicle. In one phone call to [redacted] he stated that they were being sent the wrong parts on at least three (3) occasions. In another phone call he told me that my vehicle should be ready the next day and that it was being road tested and he stated, "I will give you a call back sweety". I did not hear from him until the next time I called. I ([redacted] ) visited the transmission shop on Wednesday, July 2nd and [redacted] stated again that they were sent the wrong part and they finally got the new transmission and it was just a matter of them getting it in the car. He stated that because of the holiday, "most of the guys had plans" and that it would be Monday before my vehicle would be ready. Monday, July 6th, I did not hear from [redacted]. While in the shop and in phone conversations with [redacted], he stated that he would make this transaction "right", he "appreciated" our patience and that I would be "pleased" with the result. At one point, I asked what the cost would be and he stated he "didn't know, that he would have to look at the paperwork, but that he was gonna "do something special for us" in the end. Me or my husband, [redacted] would give Taylor Transmission a call at least once every week to check on the status of our vehicle. Each time he would state he would call us back, after a "road test" and never returned any of our phone calls. [redacted] and I visited Taylor Transmission on another occasion around, the 9th or 10th of July; I'm not sure of the date, but he stated that our vehicle was ready. When we got there our truck was still extended in the air and he stated they were doing some final checks. He stated, "I want to make sure everything is straight". So we waited in the waiting area for a while and he then stated, "why don't yall just let me give you a call when its ready"? So we left.[redacted] finally called on Thursday, July 17, 2014 around 12:30 pm stating we can pick up our vehicle. When we arrived, the office manager/secretary greeted us and provided the invoice with the total amount of $3,314.63. I then stated that [redacted] said that he was going to do something "Special" for us on the end result. She stated that I needed to speak with him. [redacted] then stated that he could not make any adjustment on the cost. He stated that he could not take a check. He stated that he had lost money on this deal and that he could not take anything off the cost. He stated that he has offered a "free oil/filler change", "free A/C system check", and a "free Brake job-pads only". These services were not done. They are "free" when we need them done. I stated that he had not done anything "special". I asked, "Do you really think I will bring my vehicle back to you to be services after you have had it for over a month? He stated he "got in trouble" for accepting our check on deposit and would not accept our check for payment. He had an attitude. I gave him $1,880 cash. He counted it and stated it was only $1,800. He then threw the cash on the desk for me to count. I did; separately: $1,000, $800 and $80. Afterward, he threw my keys on the desk and stated that he "hated that he could not do more". I stated, "You and me both. Finally, we do not feel that we were treated fairly and he was not honest in dealing with us. We feel like each time we inquired on the status of our vehicle, [redacted] told us what he thought we wanted to hear and never made good on any of his promises. They dented the hood of our truck and attempted to say it was already dented. They replaced a "Passenger [redacted] Axle" which was practically new because we had it replaced before we took our vehicle in. They charged us for the part ($85) and not the labor; they stated. I feel like we should have received at least $500 off the final bill for the inconvenience and the time they had our truck. We have had to take our vehicle back and he stated that the transmission will make adjustment as it is driven. I am very dissatisfied with the services provided by Taylor TransmissionBusiness Response We had problems getting the correct parts for Mrs.[redacted]'s vehicle and that was explained to both her and her husband throughout the whole process. To compensate for the time it took to repair the vehicle I told Mrs.[redacted] and her husband that I would do something for them. I couldn't reduce the price on the bill anymore than I already had so I noted on the work order I would do a FREE oil change, FREE Brake Job & FREE A/C System Service. She stated that was not doing anything for them by giving them something for FREE. I was not rude nor did I throw her keys or cash at her. There were several witnesses in the office at the same time she came to pick up her vehicle. If I was going to act like that I would not have offered anything to them period but I felt bad that it did take so long to get the correct parts that I felt offering FREE services on their vehicle was the least I could do. Her vehicle type is a cross year so parts are split between the the years. There's many parts to the transmission as well as electrical parts that have to interact with each other and I wanted her vehicle to last longer than the 12 month/12,000 mile warranty period I put on all of my transmissions that leave my shop. I never let a vehicle leave here until I road test it myself and am comfortable in putting a customer in a safe driving vehicle.
