This was absolutely the worst experience we have ever had with a landscape company, or any other company we can recall using We were very clear with MrHand from the beginning, we wanted to add plants, flowers, and mulch to our front flower beds; trim up the hedges; and remove the weeds and put mulch only in the back flower beds We also wanted to have our sprinkler system repaired We explained we were trying to get the house ready to sell, and wanted to improve the curb appeal We also explained we needed to keep our costs to a minimum When we asked him about the landscaping, he told us the cost would be about $1, We were agreeable to this estimate, and asked him to proceed As he began to work, we decided we wanted him to add azalea shrubs to the side of the house, and he quoted us about $per bush He planted bushes, so we expected the cost to be about $added to the original estimate He then suggested we put some new grass in an area of the front yard, and told us it would be another $250.00, and we agreed He then talked to us about taking out some limbs in two front oak trees He said the cost would be another $600.00, and we declined explaining we were trying to keep our costs to a minimum As he continued to work (over a period of about or days), we repeatedly asked him where he was on how much we had spent, and he continuously declined and said he would have to get the bill together and let us know what we owed him Throughout the time he worked on my sprinkler system (which we found out later he contracted out to another company), he would not give us a total on the expenses We estimated the cost to be an additional $1,to $1,dollars We believed the total bill on this project was going to be about $3,to $3,500.00, based on previous landscaping jobs done at our home Many times we asked him to give us a quote, and he always put us off and tried to reassure us the costs were under control After a couple of weeks, we eventually received his bill in the mail, and we were appalledHe charged us over $6,for the work he had done on our yard All he did was plant some shrubs, some inexpensive flowers (like begonias), weeded the beds, put in new mulch, and repaired an exhisting sprinkler system This company took us to the cleaners He took advantage of us and we will never recommend him to anyone After he had "supposedly" completed the work, we had one of the sprinkler heads begin to leak (we noticed it the day after he had completed the work) We contacted him to come and repair the sprinkler head, and he was going to charge us additional money He never came and repaired the sprinkler head We don't know how this man sleeps at night or remains in business, but we would caution anyone not to use him We have since found out, this is not unusual business practice for this man We accept responsibility for not getting something in writing, but this man took advantage of us and is extremely dishonest
