Initial Business Response /* (1000, 6, 2016/08/04) */
Hello, I am [redacted], and my wife [redacted] and I are owners of TCB Auto. Miss [redacted] first purchased from us a 2004 Chevy Malibu for $2600 on 2/10/16. According to her, She really liked the car, but it was recently wrecked so she came back to...

buy another car on 6/16/16. On 6/16/16, she purchased a 1998 Honda Accord for $1700. We had repaired as power window, replaced a blower motor resister and put on better tires, and I personally drove it about 150-175 miles, and noticed no issues. The day she bought this car, she took it on a test drive which lasted about 2 hours.
This Vehicle was sold "as is" with "absolutely no warranty" as we verbally made this clear to Miss [redacted] before she signed her signature. Nonetheless, we told Miss [redacted] when she purchased the vehicle (as we tell all of our customers) that if anything should go wrong with this vehicle in the first month, we would be willing to do repairs at 50% off. Two weeks after the sale, Miss [redacted] brought this vehicle back to us with a concern about a "Jerky" shift in the transmission. I drove the vehicle with her and noticed a slight hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear, which did not exist when we sold the car, but is typical of many Honda Accords 1998-2002. Sometimes, a fluid change can smooth out shifting so we did a transmission fluid drain and fill for free that day.
On 7/12/16 Miss [redacted] returned wanting to sell the car back to us. I asked to drive the car to see for myself what it was doing but she declined. Although I wouldn't have condemned the transmission myself, I reminded her of our offer to do 50% off repairs and located a good used low mile transmission and priced out a transmission replacement for $1500, which at 50% off, would cost her $750. She was not interested, so I gave her 2 other options: 1) give her $1100 trade credit towards any other vehicle on our lot (30 to choose from under $3000) or 2) buy back her 1998 Honda Accord for $800 cash, but explained to her that in either case, she would need the title, which is not typically received from the Secretary of State until about 6-8 weeks after the date of the car sell.
On 7/14/16 Miss [redacted] called to say that she would be coming to our shop on 7/22/16 to sell the vehicle back to us. I assumed that she had set the date based on when she would have the title in hand, but she showed up on 7/22/16 demanding that we buy the vehicle from her for the agreed $800, but with no title.
It was after this that Miss [redacted] posted a complaint to Revdex.com that she purchased a car with a "very bad transmission." As I said, I drove the car about 150-175 miles before the sell and Miss [redacted] was out on a test drive for 2 hours, and did not report any problems for two weeks after buying the car, and has not permitted me to verify her claim that the shift problem is getting worse, since the test drive when I agreed that there is a slight hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear, and of course she is still driving the car. Although we cannot predict what might go wrong with a vehicle after purchase, clearly this car had no problems when it was sold.
Miss [redacted] goes on to mount a list of other unspecific criticisms like "bad used cars", "bad customer service", "rude and arrogant", to which all I can do is disagree. We have great mechanics, we do repairs on vehicles before listing them for sale, almost 100% happy customers, and as with Miss [redacted], we almost always go above and beyond our obligations when things go wrong with cars after we sell them. Of course, there will always be someone who blames us when they don't get their way. We certainly didn't disrespect Miss [redacted], but she became very upset with us when we had to remind her on 7/22/16 that we had already told her that we would not buy back the car without a title.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 8, 2016/08/05) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
[redacted] is telling very untrue statements about what happened. The car was jerky when his wife [redacted] told me that it was because it was a old car. I don't have any knowledge about cars so I believed her. Once my mom broke it she noticed it was the transmission. I didn't drive the car for the 1 and a half weeks before bringing it back. They are lying about these statements. I didn't demand any money back . They jumped in my face being rude and obnoxious and disrespecting me. I have witnessed that were present . I don't appreciate this lie from them . He got upset because I told the Revdex.com on him so he denied me my $800 he made an agreement about .
