TCM home Remodeling Reviews (%countItem)

I hired Todd Miller of TCM Home Remodeling, the owner and contractor of the company for a complete kitchen remodeling down to the studs of the house. He promised “we can do anything”.
Collectively, the work was performed so incompetently, I would never recommend this company to anyone.
HVAC:
He removed a functional radiator to give more space in the kitchen and replaced it with small baseboard. This is non-functional and does not emit heat. For this reason, the entire kitchen is freezing. The fact that there is a draft coming from the floor and the walls do not appear to be insulated is beside the point. From this moment on, he did something to the entire system because I had no heat on the right side of my house. Since he wouldn't fix it after four months during the freezing winter, I had to hire and HVAC company to get the heat running on the right side of the house. The HVAC company was so surprise and the level of incompetence and lack of responsiveness of Todd Miller. Todd was simply not concerned about creating a situation, which led to me not having heat for 4 months over the winter and left the CUSTOMER to find a company to fix the problem. The HVAC company I hired identified the problem he created and fixed the issue, which was more money out of pocket. To quote the HVAC person “he has no idea what he is doing”.
Hot water:
During the renovation in the kitchen, Todd re-routed pipes. Even though Todd kept saying things were working, I had no hot water for 4 months, which meant cold water and showers since it affected the bathroom on the second floor right above the kitchen. I had to take it upon myself to hire a plumber to identify the issue and fix the problem. Todd Miller was not responsive to the issue and did not care that I had no hot water. His response was "it's an old house". However, everything was working fine until his renovations. Again, more money out of my pocket to fix his mistakes. It took the plumber several hours to fix the issue.
Electric:
The kitchen light fixtures were installed during the renovation and they installed it with the electric on in the house. The employee got shocked and it also blew out the dining room chandelier, which had been working since 1927, when the house was built. He wired the kitchen light fixture unsafely and incorrectly. I only found this out when he said "he would be back" to fix the chandelier and electric, which he ruined and never did. Yet again, I had to hire an electrician to fix the electric. When the electricians took apart the kitchen light fixture and traced the electric, they were shocked in terms of how unsafely the electric was done by Todd Miller. After much time, hours and effort, the electricians were able to correct the unsafe electrical issues. To quote the electricians “this was complete madness the way they did this” and “ we literally had to rewire this side of the house”.
In addition, my kitchen outlets are not up to code as promised. There were supposed to be outlets every two feet per code and he literally left the same two existing outlets for the entire kitchen.
An ex-employee of his called me to tell me that there may be a fire hazard within the wall from where the electric wiring was place and could be live wires. For this reason, I am now worried there will be a spontaneous fire at some point since I can’t see since the walls are now up.
Workers
Complaints were made to me by his employees that he did not pay his workers; therefore, there were always a rotating door of people at my house to continue the project because people would quit. Each one didn't know where the other left off leading to more chaos and unfinished work. Simple things like after the walls were rebuild, there was not even outlet switch for the garbage disposal. After the sink was finally hooked up three months later, they finally noticed after I brought it to their attention. Other things, such as windows not completed, with foam insulation exposed and not framed leading to an issue of possible water damage over the entire winter.
In addition, glass knobs for the cabinets I ordered were stolen. Todd admitted an employee stole them. They cost me $250. Todd replaced them, but then complained that he "lost money on that" and never apologized.
Key
He had a key to the house multiple times. I had to request he use a lock box for the entrance door. It is an unsettling feeling that he made multiple keys for his employees during that time; therefore, how may keys to my house are in the pockets of ex-workers. I now must change the locks since he didn't return the key to the house.
Overall
Of note, you should be expected to be treated like a paycheck. He will continually ask for the next installment even though he keeps breaking things along the way and doesn't fix them.
I have never given anyone a bad review; however, I don’t want anyone to go through this with the hard work people earn to renovate a space in their home. His work is not safe and he is unprofessional. To quote the HVAC gentleman, “he has no idea what he is doing”.
He doesn't return messages, calls or emails so you will end up feeling frustrated.
Furthermore, the HVAC, plumber and electric professionals I had to hire to fix all of the problems, which go way beyond this short synopsis, state they have received so many calls for jobs to fix the problems Todd Miller created. He should not be working in this business as customers are relying on competent work for their home renovations.
I would never advise anyone to hire Todd Miller and his company TCM Home Remodeling for their home. If this saves one person from the incompetent work, my experience was worth it.
