TD Auto Club

I was stuck up in my car on 4th February from 11.30am- 6.30pm and made multiple phone calls to TD AUTOCLUB without any help in towing service. After 3 hours I get a message of the towing service (Mayday Towing) . They did not respond for 2 more hours so we called him and he said wait from r another 2 hours and still no help. Called TD again and no help from them either. Called Mayday again and same answer and then the guy verbally abused me and threatened me that he will cancel my service at 6.30pm after waiting from 11.30am. It was MINUS FOURTY AND FREEZING. Ridiculous service without any help. Called TDagain at 6.30 and they said I call private service and TD will reimburse up to $250. Why wasn't I told this earlier? I then called private towing company.

I am a TD Delux Auto Club Member. On June 25, 2019 at approximately 9:30 am my car had a mechanical issue on Highway 401 Eastbound near Dixie Road for which my car had to be towed. I contacted the TD Autoclub telephone number and spoke to a person who said that I can either wait for a TD Autoclub tow truck to come and tow me or there was a highway tow truck available. They said that I am covered for $250 so I can claim that after. Originally the tow truck was supposed to take me to a mechanic but I was not sure if the car would be salvageable so I asked the tow truck person to tow me to my house so I can properly diagnose the problem with my own mechanic who is in Burlington, Ontario. The car was towed to Burlington Ontario at my own expense and necessary repairs were made. When I filed the claim with TD they said they wanted original copies of the tow truck cost, the cost of repair and invoice number of the repair shop. I told them that it was towed to my house since I did not know if the car can be salvaged or if it was a total loss since the car is old and it is not worth spending a lot of money on it, but TD Autoclub representative *** at XXX-XXX-XXXX insisted that in the Booklet that is offered by TD, it stipulates that only costs of tows to a mechanic directly is covered. I indicated to him that my car was eventually taken to a mechanic but just not initially. The cost of tow to Burlington, Ontario would have been much higher anyway. The total cost of tow pick up only is $150 plus HST and additional Kms are $77 plus taxes.
