I bought a car from a dealership who does their car loans through TCU. When I first got the loan, I went to a TCU branch to set up recurring payments. The teller told me to be careful, as their automatic payment system will continue to take payments out, even after the loan was fulfilled. (seriously!!?? is this illegal?!) She recommended stopping payments about 6 months in advance to avoid this issue. Then, she told me that I could only set the payments up online myself, not in person at a branch. So, I went home and set up the payments. The first few months were fine, with an email coming to me each month saying "TCU automatic payment confirmation". Then, I started noticing occasionally, that even though I was getting the confirmation email, the payments weren't being withdrawn from my bank account. I called and spoke with a TCU rep who said that their system wasn't recognizing my payment anymore and that I needed to add a new recurring payment to my account, which I did. Then, I noticed that payments were getting taken out twice a month. So, I called again. They said now the system was recognizing both recurring payment accounts and pulling payment each time. I asked if I could get a credit for the overage I was charged or if I could get my money back. The answer? No. The payments would be recognized simply as additional payments and I couldn't get the money back. Since then, I have had multiple issues with the loan payment not being taken out and I have to call and wait for half an hour to talk with a representative. Additional excuses I've heard "oh we accidentally deleted your recurring payments last month when you called" to the most recent excuse "the third party payment system we use no longer accepts new automatic payment accounts." Even though TCU reps were the ones who deleted my recurring payment in the first place! So, now the only way I can do an automatic payment is to link my personal bank account, which will continuously transfer money into a TCU bank account, which the system will then try to pull money from. With all of the issues I've had with this bank, I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TRUST them to link my bank account with one of theirs. The recurring payments I had set up were first through my credit card. Then, it was through an echeck/debit card. Now, I'm supposed to link my bank account with one they will set up for me? No thank you! It is unacceptable to have this many issues with trying to repay a loan. I DO NOT recommend them to anyone!
