I am the parent of a youth player who participates on a select softball team, TEAM TFS TX INC. I was never made aware of this organization's non-profit status, nor is this information disclosed on their website.
After a recent unexplained increase in monthly player dues to the TFS organization, I learned through the IRS that TEAM TFS TX INC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Based off my accounting documents, dues made payable to the organization are being allocated for the team's coaching staff's salary, background checks, franchise fees, use of a public high school softball field, and other unverifiable expenses. I have not been informed on how funds are properly allocated through TEAM TFS TX INC. and how it transfers into monthly dues per player. For example, are any of the dues paid tax deductible?
Per the Parent & Player Agreement, playing for the team is contingent upon full payment of monthly dues. In the event of an inability to pay, there is no alternate solution listed in efforts to allow a player to continue playing for TEAM TFS TX INC (i.e scholarships, sliding scale fees, etc). The President/Owner of TEAM TFS NTX INC is ***. He is also co-chairman with another 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Wounded Warrior Softball Amputee (EIN: ***). Is this corporation an umbrella for TEAM TFS TX INC and how does the allocation effect monthly player dues, if any?
This report is being made on the concern of potential non-compliance with the Internal Revenue Code for misappropriating funds of a nonprofit.
TEAM TFS TX Mission Statement: To Provide An Education In Life Skills Through The Sport Of Softball. Foster National Or International Amateur Softball Competition And Provide Development Opportunities For Amateur Athletes For That Competition.
We operate yearly as a 501c3 non-profit organization. We are apologetic that an increase of the monthly dues were not explained. Team cost change frequently based on tournament costs, uniforms and equipment.We are compliant with the IRS. Monthly dues are not tax deductalbe since a service is being provided. Team TFS Texas has no relation to any other 501c3. David was simply serving on 2 non-profit boards at the same time.

I am rejecting this response because:
To my understanding, a 501(c)(3) must operate and adhere to specific guidelines. As a parent that paid monthly player dues, it appears that we were paying for coach's salaries and other possible unauthorized fees. In addition, the TFS Player Agreement requires payment as a form of contingency for a player to participate in practices and/or tournaments. There is no mention of a scholarship or sliding fee scale in the event monthly players dues cannot be paid, nor was it ever offered to us, instead our dues increased for some unknown reason. I am seeking a full transaction history for each payment sent to TFS on my behalf, including a reason for the charge. Any unauthorized charges per 501(c)(3) guidelines needs to be reimbursed.

1. Team TFS Texas operates as a compliant 501c3.
2. Every 501c3 can have as many paid employees as they wish. We have coaches which are contractors as 1099 workers.
3. Team TFS Texas does not have a scholarship program in place.
4. The reason the monthly team fees increased was due to a smaller roster size from 14 paying players down to 12. Also an increase in tournament costs.
5. Team TFS Texas can determine the monthly fees by season. All of the incoming funds are spent for team related expenses.
