I purchased a Groupon for this business to fix my cracked screen iPad mini. I will explain how this was the incorrect Groupon, I didn't know until later in the incident. So I take my iPad to TechSmart and request my screen be fixed and I tell him I have a Groupon. He says he can look up the Groupon online no need to see it. So later that afternoon I get a call it's ready. 20 minutes later I'm at the store to pick it up . He hands it to me and it doesn't work at all, total black no power. I said it's broken. He said ? what are you going to do about it '? I told him he's going to fix it, it was in working condition when I dropped it off. He told me it's $200, I refused. Then he said he'll fix it for $70, refused again. Then he gave me excuses like it will take 6 hours for glue to set, even though he only had it for 4 hours or les and handed back to me. After arguing he said I'll fix for free. But that was almost 7 weeks ago and they keeping up with more excuses. That when I can get them to respond. They said I bought the incorrect Groupon after the fact, after they broke it. If they told me before taking it in I would have just got a refund from Groupon and purchased the correct one. I need it for work and had to purchase another iPad, not in my budget. They have been evasive and rude and I'm not sure if I'll ever get my working iPad back. This is a bait and switch scam where they are holding my iPad hostage. The last time I called I told them my name and said I'm inquiring about my iPad mini. The man asked is it the white one, is it a iPad, did you bring it it in a few days ago. I said why can't you look by my name, I don't want somebody else's iPad, sound like he was just going to hand me anything.

Let's start with the actual account of series of events.

Customer came to our location to get iPad repair. She tells us she purchased the Groupon and we explained to her that we don't offer a Groupon for her type of iPad (iPad Mini 4). I told her she would have to pay the balance of the repair if she wanted us to do the repair. At that she became very angry and used profanity at us which I then asked her to leave. She leaves and has her husband come in and I explain to him the issue with Groupon. Her husband became hostile as well and I asked him to leave which he didn't. Finally after things calmed down, we agreed that I will provide a discount for the misunderstanding on their part of not reading the offer on Groupon correctly. During the repair on her iPad we accidently shorted one of her FPC connector on the logic board. Since this is an error on our part, we then informed the customer that we had to send out the iPad to our vendor in Miami who specializes in micro-soldering. We don't do that type of work anymore. I also explained to the customer that we would pay for that. She became hostile and told me that she's going to report us. I explained to her that this isn't a type or repair we do and we have to send it out. The usual turn around time is 8-10 business days and that was also told to the customer. During that time, the customer constantly called us to check on status of iPad. We received the iPad back and the original issue was repaired but still the iPad wasn't functioning correctly. We spoke to the customer and explained to her the iPad was not working properly and we didn't to diagnose more. She became irate, again used profanity, again threatened to report us and call the cops. We unfortunately had to send the iPad back to Miami to repair another connector on logic board. Another 8-10 day process. After receiving the iPad, we installed the replacement and iPad still wasn't functioning correctly. Each time we do a replacement, the adhesive glue we use takes up to 6hrs to bond with the frame of iPad. We had to order another screen from our vendor which takes 3 days to receive. That screen was faulty when we installed it. Customer came in on 7/10/19 and I explained to her that her iPad was not repaired and we can't find the root cause of the current issue which is why aren't the screens working with her iPad. I told her I need a day to diagnose more. We would like to resolve this amicably.

We hope this has been resolved. We replaced the customer's iPad with the same model. We were at fault for the issues that happened with her iPad. It is our policy to replace the item. Just to touch upon a few things that we were accused of. We don't run any scams. We're a very reputable company and have been like that since we've been open for business. We can provide hundreds of testimonials to that effect. We've been proudly serving the Jupiter and South Florida communities for the past 12 years. This incident is the first of its kind. This matter has been resolved.
