Review: I have a newly built home that leaked water during a rain storm. I asked the contractor to evaluate which he did; he blamed the landscaper. I hired an independent company to check the foundation; a foundation defect was discovered and repaired. The contractor stated he would pay for the repair which he did; however he then charged us for cosmetic work (drywall etc) which was already hired out by his foreman prior to the water damage to repair settlement cracks which the foreman said were routine repairs at the 1 year point.. I cannot convince the contractor that the drywall work is indeed part of the foundation repair and routine follow up work for house settlement. I did not ask for (yet) carpet repair, flood damage, basement drying and dehumidification etc. totaling in excess of $20,000 but am prepared to do so as a next step if this cannot be resolved.Desired Settlement: $500 for the drywall work that is part of routine follow up work in a new construction as well as foundation repair cosmetics.
