The business replied to me saying “I gave her a discount on the labor, not by her wishes. Only because I had done work for her in the past and it's just good business. She ask for a receipt for the valve purchase unfortunately that is not normal practice. She was told her receipt was her invoice and that the price of the values were slightly market up to cover the cost of vehicle gas and miscellaneous business expenses. She was given the name of the store and the valve name to see for herself what the valve cost. This I have left up to her such as any consumer should do for them selves.” In response, he gave me a discount only because he quoted me a different hourly rate on the phone and then discounted it when he brought another person and tried to double the hourly rate.  As for the cost of the valves, I believe if he goes out to purchase them on my time, I should see the actual cost. And when I asked why the valves were so expensive, he told me he was giving me a break.  Obviously not. I called the vendor myself and was told by them that these parts were significantly less than what he charged me. When I asked him to substantiate his price by showing me an invoice, he refused. So it appears from his response that he does not intend to do anything about my claim. If that is the case, I would like the claim to show on his record as unresolved or however you show that the business refused to do anything to resolve it. Please let me know if I need to do anything further. Again, thank you for your patience in working me through this process, [redacted]Claim #[redacted]

Review: When I called and spoke to [redacted], the owner, to get a price to fix my sprinkler system, he quoted me $50 an hour. When he showed up to work, he had a helper with him which he said would be an additional $50 an hour. When I questioned it, he said, okay $25 is the best I can do. I was not feeling well that day so I let it go. He said he had one part in his truck but needed to buy a second valve for the sprinkler unit. He not only charged me for his time to travel to the store, but for his helper to go with him as well.Only AFTER INSTALLATION when he presented me the bill did he tell me the cost of the valves were $75 a piece. When I questioned the high cost since I have had valves replaced before, he told me these were special commercial grade, etc. I normally expect a receipt attached to the bill for parts, but since I wasn't feeling well forgot to ask for one. Later my husband also questioned the price and we called Hydroscape where he purchased the part. They quoted me $28 for the "commercial grade" part. So I called the owner and requested a copy of his receipt explaining that I had gotten a quote from Hydroscape. He said he would send it to me when he had time. It has been two weeks and when I called again to inquire when I would get it, he actually started yelling at me. This is not only unprofessional behavior, but questionable business practices.Desired Settlement: I would like to be reimbursed the difference between what I paid him for the parts ($150) and what the actual price would have been ($56) since I already paid him for the time he and his helper took to go to the store to get the parts. If I knew he was going to mark up the price so greatly, I could have gone myself since the company is only a few miles away and I purchase other supplies from them. I believe $300 for replace two sprinkler valves is an excessive charge.
