It is unfortunate that I received this complaintI read the [redacted] ’s complaint and I admit that my initial quality and craftsmanship was not my best workHowever, to hired a professional painter and drywall contractor to fix all of the clients concernsI went above and beyond correct these issuesThe only item I wasn’t able to fix was the gapping in the laminate flooringIt was my plan to remove the areas of concern and replace the flooring when I continued flooring the remaining areas in the first floorThe [redacted] ’s didn’t allow me the opportunity to correct the floor because they cancelled the project and demanded ? their deposit back? I issued the deposit back for the work I didn’t complete and they hired another contract before allowing fix the flooring ? They claim that I am withholding $for work they didn’t agree to and unknown general conditionsMy final invoice detailing this amountI charged $for general conditionsThis includes construction permits that cannot be refunded and disposal feesI also had additional costs of the installation of new electrical outlets, a chandelier, and a carbon monoxide detector ? I am willing to negotiate the costs additional workHowever, I am unable to refund my general condition costs ? Thank you, ? [redacted] ***?

I completely reject the ***’s responseI completed every task that I was contracted up until the point they cancelled the projectI went above and beyond to correct quality issues that the ***’s addressed with meExcept for the flooring, which they didn’t allow me to fix, the completed work was very goodI see now that the ***’s expectations were completely unreasonable My previous explanation of my general conditions costs were accurateAlso, I permitted the project not as a bedroom but as a denI added the closet to convert it into a bedroom after the building inspection, per the ***’s requestI handle myself with the utmost professionalism and the same can’t be said about the ***’sTheir claims that I was untruthful and dishonest are falseIt is them that are misremembering our conversations and verbal agreements I will refund the requested money not because I agree with any of their complaints, I just want this issue to be resolved

I am rejecting this response because: *** would not have had the $to withhold without requesting to be paid prior to the completion of the projectWhen we confronted *** about the quality of work, we told him that we were not sure if we would continue with his business due to the quality of work and lack of attention to detailHe did not follow through with numerous things he told us he would do including not "remembering " that he could it come when he said he would, he hired subcontractors to finish and repair his poor work that he had never met (and indicated that we were being unfair/mean), and calling the flooring company to replace the floors at his costThere were too many failed promises and poor work to have us feel comfortable putting more money and time into this businessIf it was so important, then why did it take almost a month to obtain a response to a serious complaint? We issued a complaint the same day we spoke with *** on 9/*** did respond until 10/Clearly this is not important to him. The general conditions that *** is saying can't be refunded due to permit costsHowever, that should have been included in the original estimate of the room knowing that you would need a permitAnd disposal fees are also a known cost when you're creating a room, removing carpet, etcThe room isn't permitted correctly eitherWe asked for it to be a bedroom but *** told us it would take too longAfter the permit was completed (after an inspection), he then built an unpermitted closet that is not up to codeWhen we go to sell this house, we cannot sell it as a bedroom house due to his lack of attention to detail and what the homeowner has requestedThe charges that *** charged for retrospectively were items that should have been included in the original amount of the project such as outlet installationWe requested that he not install the chandelier due to the cost, but *** did it anywayThere is a consistent record of not listening to our requests and we frequently heard the phrase "I forgot about that."
The billing is an issue regarding details and "back work charges" that are in breach of his own contractPer his contract, he has days to notify the homeowners of changes in pricingHe also does not have a cancellation policy so there shouldn't be a penalty for cancelling the remaining projects*** repeatedly stated "I have jobs right now, and you're my smallest." None of this will be a surprise to him, as we clearly stated all of our problems and concerns with the work and his business in general.

issues. The only item I wasn’t able to fix was the gapping in the laminate flooring. It was my plan to remove the areas of concern and replace the flooring when I continued flooring the remaining areas in the first floor. The [redacted]’s didn’t allow me the opportunity to correct the floor because they cancelled the project and demanded  their deposit back.  I issued the deposit back for the work I didn’t complete and they hired another contract before allowing fix the flooring.   They claim that I am withholding $940 for work they didn’t agree to and unknown general conditions. My final invoice detailing this amount. I charged $500 for general conditions. This includes construction permits that cannot be refunded and disposal fees. I also had additional costs of the installation of new electrical outlets, a chandelier, and a carbon monoxide detector.   I am willing to negotiate the costs additional work. However, I am unable to refund my general condition costs.   Thank you,   [redacted]

I completely reject the [redacted]’s response. I completed every task that I was contracted up until the point they cancelled the project. I went above and beyond to correct quality issues that the [redacted]’s addressed with me. Except for the flooring, which they didn’t allow me to fix, the completed work was very good. I see now that the [redacted]’s expectations were completely unreasonable.   My previous explanation of my general conditions costs were accurate. Also, I permitted the project not as a bedroom but as a den. I added the closet to convert it into a bedroom after the building inspection, per the [redacted]’s request. I handle myself with the utmost professionalism and the same can’t be said about the [redacted]’s. Their claims that I was untruthful and dishonest are false. It is them that are misremembering our conversations and verbal agreements.   I will refund the requested money not because I agree with any of their complaints, I just want this issue to be resolved.
