Everything that I initially explained in my first
response is true and accurate. We are
very easy to get along with, but when the person is yelling, callingus a "liar", cussing at us, cussingJesus Christ and twisting the truth
it seems to get more complicated that it
should. We thought we had reached an
agreement with *** when he was in our shop concerning the charge of $for a tie
rod end, but I guess ***'s word
nor approval is not good anymoreWe
as usual, are willing to take the high road and hopefully this can go away.*** brought in his Oldsmobile Alero in to have us check out the damagethat he caused by wreckingthe car. We explained to *** that there would be a $fee to find
out what damages were made to the vehicle when he had the wreck*** approved
thisWe performed an inspection of the vehicle ($49.95} and then advised him
of all the issues that he had with his Alero*** told us to perform the Oil
Change, lower control arm and wheel alignmentHe told us to not do any of the
other needed itemsWe performed the oil change and then started to remove the
lower control arm. The nut on the outer tie rod end would not come off. I called *** and told him about this. He told me to
go ahead and replace the tie
rod end. *** approved the fee for the tie rod end and the labor. I received a message from our receptionist to
give a person a call that had called about ***'s AleroI immediately called
and got a voice mail message and then I left a message for that person to call
me back. About two hours later I received a phone call from a
man that said he was ***'s dad and that he lived in OhioHe asked me why I
didn't call him and I said that I didHe immediately started yelling
"LIAR, YOU ARE A LIAR"He repeated this several timesI finally got
him calmed down and read back the phone number that I had calledThe number I
had called was not his number.Somewhere in the communication from
***'s dad to our receptionist and then to me the number had been entered
incorrectlyI apologized for this errorThe man never apologized for yelling
and calling me a liarHe told me that he knew how to work on cars and asked me some questions in
which I told him that I would have to
ask the technician and call him
back. He agreed and I went to ask our
technician and found that he had gone to
a doctor's appointment. I asked
one of our other certified techs about doing the job the way that***'s dad wanted us to do it
and was told that it might be able to
be done, but it would take two men and also quite a bit more time.
When the technician working on the Alero came back I asked him about the options and he told me that since
*** had approved the tie rod end that the tie rod end had already been removed
and the new one installed*** then called me and I explained that we had
already done the tie rod end*** came into our shop and was very irateI
told him that we were very easy to get along with and we could work this outHe startedyelling "JESUS ***CHRIST" over and over again.I told him that he could
not talk like that in our businessHe stated "I'll say whatever I
want". I made it clear to
him that he could not say nor do whatever he wanted, especially the
disrespectful things he was sayingI took control of the conversation and
suggested to him that we do three
things: (1) Not charge him
for the $for
the complete car inspection.
(2)Not charge him labor to install the tie rod end. (3)Discount the tie rod end by$*** had approved the
replacement of the tie rod end (part and labor), but we are very easy to get
along with and were happy to make pricing adjustmentsIn the end *** was
paying $for the tie rod end and the
labor to install it. Now he no longer had a tie rod
end that the nut would not come off
of. I then asked *** "do
you think this is fair''. He said "yes". I then said, "then this is what we'll
do". I reminded *** what I had already told him
which was that we needed to put the
car onto the alignment machine so
that we could measure the suspension and see if anything else was bent***
and I had agreed to not put his car on the alignment machine and check for
further bent parts. I reminded *** that
the alignment machine can see things bent that we cannot see with our eyesI
reminded *** that since he is not
having us perform the alignment check then we don't know what else could
be bent and that he needs to immediately
take the car to another shop to have
the alignment and suspension checked for
further bent parts. I made notes of all
of this on his receipt. I made the
pricing adjustments on his ticket and he paid his bill and left. After all of the credits that I gave
***, the final charges to *** were $more than if we had not touched the
tie rod endIf I did not replace the tie rod end, ***'s car would still have
a tie rod end that would not come offI have listed my
explanation of what happened below*** approved the $to
"inspect" the vehicle for damage, yet I did not charge him for this
*** approved the replacement ofthe tie rodend and labor. I did not charge him the labor and discounted
the tie rod end by 50%, which made it $58.48.My resolution to this is we charge *** for the "Inspection & Testing of
Suspension" ofthe vehicle ($49.95), charge him the price of the lower
control arm and labor ($273.95), the oil and filter service ($42.95) and waste
disposal and taxes ($33.36). This brings
to total to $400.21. *** approved
all ofthese items before they were performed*** approved the
replacement of the tie rod end and labor, but we will not charge him for these
items. He now has a tie rod end that
works properlyEverything else *** approvedWe owe ***$8.52. We would be happy to mail
him a check

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:*** was not upfront and clear about their pricingWhen asked for the price of their tires I was told $per tireThey never mentioned there was an up charge on the tires if I wanted to use the couponI was also, never
given the full price of the tires, labor and taxesI did see that the coupon said see store for details and asked *** when I made the appointment if the coupon would qualify for the tires I was purchasingHe told me they qualified and never mentioned there was an up charge on the tires, having known that I had spoken to *** earlierIt doesn't say anywhere on their website that they up charge their tires to make up for the free tireI thought I was getting the free tire because they had the promotion outside their door as I walked inThey shouldn't put conditions on a promotion that they so freely advertiseDiscounting the tires $each does not make up for the fact that I was expecting to save $179.99.
Sincerely,

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/08/24) */
First of all I want to thank the Revdex.com for protecting businesses from dishonest customersAs usual, *** Tire & Auto Service and all of it's staff will take the high road and even though there are facts that are left out by Mr*** and
flat out dishonest statements that are made, we will give you the truth and then you can see the true character of Mr***
Mr*** tried extortion in getting us to refund him money without any proper business practice of validating his claimHe is keeping his word that unless we refunded him $immediately without any investigation that he would spread lies and make up stories and post them on the internetHe is doing that and now has involved the Revdex.com in his extortion planThis in itself tells you a lot about Mr***
Mr*** conveniently leaves out the fact that his Mustang had electrical problemsHe also left out the fact that he had just purchased the car and did not know about it's pastSomeone prior to us receiving the car had taken part of the wiring harness and had stripped off the wiring insulation and had taped wires togetherThis had caused electrical damage to the car, the wiring and it's componentsWhen Mr*** want us to perform our $service and after pulling in his Mustang we found the extensive electrical problems we advised Mr*** that we would need to fix these electrical problems one at a time and we did not know the entirety of the damage at the beginning of the repair processMr*** agreed and so we started on the repairsWe advised Mr*** at each step and he approved each step prior to us performing the said repairsAt one point we told Mr*** that we were still not getting electrical power to his A/C compressorMr*** told us to stop and he picked up his MustangA few days went by and Mr*** came back with two teenagersAll three were very angry and seemed to be out of control with their emotionsMr*** made it a point to be very difficult and at this point explained that we would not be allowed to validate his claim nor would he allow us to see any documents to validate his storyHe said that unless we immediately gave him $that he would go on the internet and write stories and say that we would not take care of himAt this time Mr*** was reminded that he was accountable for his words and could be liable if he told liesTad apologized to *** for his inconvenience and told *** that we would be happy to take care of this problem and refund him the $We would just need to see his receipt(s) and validate his storyMr*** told me that he would never show me any receipts and seeing the receipts were none of my businessMr*** then immediately left our buildingWhat I said to Mr*** teenagers was, "This is not how to handle thisYou Dad is not handling this properly"He left with his two teenagers, while his teenagers were yelling, and cussing while they were on our property
Mr*** has spread the lie that we refused to refund him money all over the internetThis once again shows the person that Mr*** is
We would be willing to do exactly what we told Mr*** we would do when he came in with his out of control teenagersThat is refund him the $But, now we will also need Mr*** to remove all lies and what he called "stories" that he has posted on the internetHe will also need to sign a contract that states that he will not put anything about this on the internet, tell others about this and in all meanings and situations this will be a closed and sealed case
This could have been a very simple situation, if Mr*** would have been willing to follow the most basic of business practices and provide documentation for his claim
Once again, we thank the Revdex.com for protecting businesses from dishonest people and we appreciate help in resolving this matter in a business manner

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: His account is false. In the statement you can see there is a charge for the tie rod end at $116. After I took a copy of the Chilton auto manual in with me to explain how to remove the lower control arm correctly (without removing...

the axle and tie rod end) he agreed to give me a discount. I still paid over $58 for the tie rod end, which is listed in the statement. The tie rod end was ONLY removed because his technician did not know how to properly remove the lower control arm. His technician believed that the axle would need Tenno removed as well, it did not. Which I explained when I showed the owner the Chilton manual of how to replace the lower control arm. His technician cut the tie rod end and then made me pay to replace it. This man's excuse for needing to cut the tie rod end off was because the labor and work to do it the correct way (which is shown in the Chilton manual) would have been more expensive. This is false. The Chilton manual has the part and replacement shown with no indication leading to the axle or tie rod end needing to be touched. My father is a technician speacialist and has worked for a GM Chevy dealership for 20 years. I called him because what the owner explained to me did not sound correct. I gave himmy permission in the hope that he was not taking advantage of my lack of knowledge, however,  I had my father call the owner to find out what work they were doing because the owner could not accurately describe what work needed to be done on the car.  The owner kept saying the threads were damaged on the tie rod end, however that doesn't matter when you're replacing the lower control arm. This is what my father explained to me. My father called [redacted] and explained how to do the work and how much time it would take. He explained the same process that I pulled from the Chilton auto manual and showed to them owner. I called and told them not cut the tie rod end, to which the owner said they already had. So I said I would not pay for it because it was unnecessary work. When I asked the owner to show me his auto manual at his business and the procedure for replacing the lower control arm the owner refused, stating, "I don't have to show you my manual, and I'm not going to." So I said , "okay, I'm going to bring it down myself when I come to pick up my car." He agreed and said he'd take a look at it. I walked to the business to get my car, and showed him the manual. The owner removed the top page and glanced at the second (of this five page procedure-complete with pictures for reference) and said, "see the axle isn't shown in this picture" and started explaining how I had already agreed to replacing the tie rod end. I said I'm not paying for extra work, and then he offered to show me what was wrong with the tie rod end to require its replacement which he did not provide. Instead he invited me into the service department and explained the work they had done. To which I replied that's great, but you still charged me for a replacement and labor that was unnecessary. He said the tie rod end needed to be cut off because the axle was in the way of removing it. I explained again, the tie rod end and the axle do not need to be removed when replacing he lower arm control. I mentioned the Chilton auto manual and said, "no where in that procedure does it mention the axle or the tie rod end. Your technician did not know how to do the job properly and therefore is not qualified to do the work." To which the owner started yelling at me and calling me and my father a liar (all of which my father heard, as I had him on speaker phone). He asked me rhetorically, "we didn't look at this? I didn't stand here and go over this with you?" To which I replied, "no, you just looked at the second page and said that the manual couldn't be followed due to the axle not being shown in the reference image". Then for about two minutes he screamed at me," am I looking at you now? Am I?  Or am I lying about that too? Am I looking at you? Am I ? It's a yes or no question. Am I looking at you?" To which I replaced, "yes you are looking at me, but you did not look at that procedure". At this point, being pretty irate I did say, "Jesus [redacted] Christ", however, I did not scream; it was a statement of exasperation from dealing with this man who had just screamed in my face. I took my car paid for the work done, minus half the cost of the tie rod end, took my old parts and left without putting  my car on the alignment rack. At this point I was resigned to taking it to a dealership since this mans technicians couldn't do a simple job that at best was worth thirty minutes of labor for one person, not two as the owner had stated. I took it to a dealership and explained what happened, the person in charge of it said that the axle and the tie rod end wouldn't to need to be touched if the technician was replacing a lower control arm.
