screening exams and stabilizing treatmentWhen patients experience an acute medical emergency, it is recommended that they proceed immediately to the nearest Hospital Emergency DepartmentAny patient who presents to the Emergency Department undergoes a medical screening examination, diagnostic studies are completed as ordered by the physician, and the patient is treated accordinglyAppropriate consultation is sought based upon the assessment of the physicianIf it is determined that a patient requires specialized care, appropriate transfer is initiated once patient stabilization is obtained and pertinent medical records are sent to the receiving facilityRegarding the consumer’s request for a co-pay reimbursement, it was explained to the consumer that this amount is based on his benefits policy with his insurance companyWe have responded to the consumer directly in writing and after thorough consideration of the concern, the member’s request for reimbursement of the co-pay was deniedWe understand that this was not the outcome he was hoping for and we apologize that his experience did not meet his expectations
