Make sure that you fully write out the requirements for the work you want this contractor to provide along with pictures and get a signature. I had a bad experience where I verbally walked this contractor through my property and explained what I wanted done. He took no notes. They were supposed to install a generator service for my home that would run everything except my air conditioner. They installed the line from my house to my shop terminating in the wrong location. I ended up a huge box hanging from inside my shop where the line terminated, then conduit running along two walls to where I had asked to have the line terminated in the first place. My wiring box is totally backwards. They put all my breakers for my entire house in a small sub panel and the original large main panel has only one breaker for my air conditioner. After three visits to correct mistakes, I still didn't get what I requested and basically paid the bill and gave up. This contractor showed up on the wrong days to do the work. When work was done, there was no follow up to review the completed work.
