I have just come back from my 4th trip with Tennis Ventures. While that fact, alone, should be enough of an endorsement, I will elaborate on why this is such a great company. In 2010, my financial position had improved to where I felt able to take a real vacation. I started planning and almost immediately came to the conclusion that since I do logistics for a living, the last thing that I wanted to do was plan all the details of a trip. I started looking for an interesting package and since I would be traveling alone I thought that maybe something tennis related would be a good idea, because I would at least have one thing in common with the other people on the trip. I looked into a few packages but while the tennis portion of the trip looked good, you seemed to be on your own for the rest of the time.
Then I came across Tennis Ventures trip to the Australian Open: the Sidney Harbor Bridge climb; a day on a yacht; winery tour; the zoo; playing tennis; AND the Australian Open? Had this [redacted] been reading my journal of places I wanted to go and things I wanted to do? Then I saw the hotels and restaurants; everything 5 star and luxurious. A perfect vacation – I’m frugal in my daily life – vacation is the time the splurge. It seemed too good to be true. I loved the notion of an all-inclusive vacation and paying it off ahead of time but surely there were hidden fees, there had to be limitation. I sent [redacted] an email and he responded with his phone number and asked me to call. I had several questions and by the end of our conversation he had answered them. I checked out the hotels, independently, to see if they looked as good as they did on his web site. A little more research; a few more questions – it was a lot of money, more than I had ever spent on myself – he patiently answered them. I thought about it for a week and decided to sign up. I haven’t regretted it for a moment. I feel that I have more than gotten my money’s worth. Each trip has far exceeded my expectations - and I was expecting a lot to begin with.
I’ve said that I do logistics for a living so I tend to be highly critical of other people’s organizational skills. [redacted] is a master; not only the initial plan but solving problems as they come along. Plans do go awry but by the time we knew something was wrong, [redacted] already had the solution in place. I have been particularly impressed with the quality of the plans because three of the four trips that I went on were new trips for Tennis Ventures. I loved the detailed, daily itinerary – just show up and have fun. Playing tennis at different clubs, on different surfaces – I’ve now played on real grass, artificial turf, red clay and synthetic hard court – at the greatest places. Each trip has its own character and special events. In 2011 I went to Australia; 2012 was Rome-Paris and the French Open; 2013 was [redacted] and the [redacted] and finally in 2014 Wimbledon and Ireland. And I would do it all over again. Hopefully, there will be other trips that [redacted] puts together so that I can continue to adventure with Tennis Ventures.
