Terminix should be avoided Here is our story as to why: Three years ago, my wife and I purchased pest control and termite "ultimate protection" from Terminix We have made our payments monthly ($63) and annually ($225) to ensure our home was secure from pests and termites, and it had been until recently In addition, we purchased insulation services from them Terminix provided us with paperwork for their services Their marketing materials changed over the years, but their pitch didn't Our rep, John Cspoke of two kinds of termites and then parlayed that into a pitch about protections from subterranean and formosen termites Not being an expert in the bug world, when you talk about two types and then name off two types, it equals that you are talking all termites Apparently further from the truth And that's exactly where they want you After three years, flying termites (also called drywood) have nested in our addition roof line We called Terminix and they quoted costs to treat and costs to fix What happened to that "Ultimate" protection we continue to pay for? Well it apparently doesn't cover the most common termite in Florida They sell it as protection from ever having to be tented and if that comes, it would be at no cost to you Again, not the case when you actually need it So in short, don't trust Terminix They take your money, provide solutions anyone that has $and can drive to Home Depot can do, and when questioned claim ignorance Also, rarely anyone will call you back when you do request clarification After spending thousands of dollars with them for insulation ($5500), pest services ($2268) and termite annual contract services ($675) - I would implore you not to do business with them Our house has been for the most part bug free - thanks to Dave Drumm (only tech that has truly cared about the property), but for the things you pay big dollars to protect, no one owns up to the claims they made
Acquired service to TENT my house for termitesWas told tenting will be done within a monthInstead, only sprayed around the house and told me that tenting appointment is not available for monthsI told them that I cannot wait this long and to cancel my contractThey told me that I cannot get out of the contract because they sprayed around the house Again, I got their services to get my house TENTEDInstead, they only sprayed around the house to keep me "hostage" to the contract
For years we have used them to treat our house for termites Annually, they will call us out of the blue stating that they are waiting at our front door to treat the house We ask the technician mulitple times why weren't we informed of this or why was this not scheduled and every time he states that he has no idea and to call terminix This last time he called me out of the blue at pm in the eveningI again attempted to ask him why he thought to call us He stated that we left him a message to call and that it was his day off When I tried to inquire further about whats going on....he just said it was his day off and hung up the phone As I try to reach the local customer service representative or supervisor for my area code TAMPA, FLI am never able to reach anyone....I have been on hold for hours w/o anyone picking up DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE LOCAL TAMPA TERMINIX!!!
Terminix should be avoided. Here is our story as to why:
Three years ago, my wife and I purchased pest control and termite "ultimate protection" from Terminix. We have made our payments monthly ($63) and annually ($225) to ensure our home was secure from pests and termites, and it had been until recently. In addition, we purchased insulation services from them. Terminix provided us with paperwork for their services.
Their marketing materials changed over the years, but their pitch didn't. Our rep, John C. spoke of two kinds of termites and then parlayed that into a pitch about protections from subterranean and formosen termites. Not being an expert in the bug world, when you talk about two types and then name off two types, it equals that you are talking all termites. Apparently further from the truth. And that's exactly where they want you.
After three years, flying termites (also called drywood) have nested in our addition roof line. We called Terminix and they quoted costs to treat and costs to fix. What happened to that "Ultimate" protection we continue to pay for? Well it apparently doesn't cover the most common termite in Florida. They sell it as protection from ever having to be tented and if that comes, it would be at no cost to you. Again, not the case when you actually need it.
So in short, don't trust Terminix. They take your money, provide solutions anyone that has $60 and can drive to Home Depot can do, and when questioned claim ignorance. Also, rarely anyone will call you back when you do request clarification. After spending thousands of dollars with them for insulation ($5500), pest services ($2268) and termite annual contract services ($675) - I would implore you not to do business with them. Our house has been for the most part bug free - thanks to Dave Drumm (only tech that has truly cared about the property), but for the things you pay big dollars to protect, no one owns up to the claims they made.
