The concrete surface issues is widespread throughout the industry resulting from faulty concrete provided by redi mix concrete suppliers . In many cases customers have agreed to pay for repairs when the test results show issues with the concrete materials and not the installation
process. This is another situation where the repair needs to be shared between the property owner and the installer, and this condition has not yet been resolved. the neighbor referred to I the complain email paid us for repairs and we have also continued to perform other work for that client as all of my customers have understood that this is not an issue with Terra Tec. please refer to the *** *** lawsuit vs *** *** as one example of the level of damage caused by faulty concrete

*** Project: customer project was completed in November of and carried a year warranty on all plants and workmanship, therefore all repairs, replacements need to be complete prior to end of warranty periodin May of the first warranty visit was completed for items that needed to be
touched up such as seeding, edging adjustment and some plant replacements. the communication in May of was that further assessment would be made in August and September of for the project to receive final touch ups as reqired. As of the week of 10/12/all warranty work is complete

This customer was presented with options for earth tone colors to be used for the proposed color impression borders.  Based on experience, the earth tone colors would have blended very well with the stone color on the home and would not show evidence of...

discoloration and be low maintenance.  This customer was convinced that a red tone would be the best to match their entry door, and did not want to use an earth tone.  I specifically warned this customer that when using a red tone that efflorescence would be visible, and dull the color of the border.  Efflorescence is the process of salt rising to the surface of the concrete which then gets trapped below the sealer and creates a cloudy film below the sealer.  I consulted with them that they would need to contract for the efflorescence to be cleaned within 1-2 years after installation, and that the cleaning and resealing is a necessary steps which renews the original red tone color.  This process would need to be repeated, typically every 3-4 years, and there is a cost.  The maintenance cost currently is this customers issue, and they believe the efflorescence is not their responsibility.  This customer does not recall these conversations, yet I spent hours discussing the trees as well as the border colors and had gone back and forth with this customer many times on all elements of their project.  I have other customers who have implemented the color impression process and are well aware of the renewal process and contract to have this service performed.  More than willing to engage with this customer to renew their red tone borders.

Business states they hope to complete the cleaning in approximately 2 weeks, when their schedule allows.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. If the business believes they fulfilled their warranty responsibility, why has this never been stated previously?  The attached file, a copy and paste of our email correspondences, clearly show that Terra Tec committed to coming to my property to make repairs to the lawn AFTER the original seeding failed.  Furthermore, my local landscaping company that cuts my lawn, stated the method that Terra Tec used given the time of year, was not the most appropriate way to reseed.  Was told that preferred method this time of year should have employed by Terra Tec that would have resulted in the doing the reseeding providing some moisture at the base.  Finally, Terra Tec decided to reseed in July of 2016.  They were informed of the grass issue on 8/17/15 so not only did it take a year for them to address- they had ample time to reseed at a much more appropriate time which would have been spring or fall.

Owner pleads he does not know how to take care of the one time reseeding warranty work that was performed however, he watered the original turf installation.  The homeowner never watered the reseeded work.  Watering is owners responsibility for which instructions are clearly provided...

in our contract terms.  The entire yard was dry and cracked one month after the lawn was reseeded.   Since re-seeding work was complete, the homeowner repeatedly asked for return visits.  We are unable to continue to take calls and make site visits for completed warranty work that failed due to the homeowner's neglect.

Review: Terra Tec Landscaping was the contractor selected to do our hardscape in 2010 when we moved to Wisconsin and built our new home. The problem that we would like addressed is the replacement/resurfacing of our driveway. The job was completed in the Fall of 2010 and issues started to arise the following spring when large chunks of the surface began popping out (concrete cherting) after the spring/winter thaw cycle. Mr [redacted], was very responsive the first spring. He took samples and performed tests to determine that the concrete mix used was at fault and made assurances that this would be covered under the contract. He dragged us along in 2011, 2012 and 2013, stating that his crews were finishing a job but that when they were done they would be coming over to our house to address the issues. He even had us scheduled several times but the crew never showed up. In 2014, he again assured us that this was going to be resolved but after our final meeting, we have not heard from him again. Numerous emails and phone calls have gone unreturned over last year. I have an entire email chain with the dates and proposed resolutions documented that can be provided. I can also provide the original warranty contract and numerous pictures detailing the complete destruction of the driveway. This is not a situation with a few "pop" here and there, the entire driveway is filled with craters and the top surface turns to gravel every spring. I would be more than happy to provide pictures detailing the situation. He has had this situation with other customers as our neighbor had to take him to court to resolve and another (just repaired last month) did the same as the sale of their house was dependant on resurfacing the driveway. When we signed our contract, Mr. [redacted] said that he stands behind work and would replace our driveway if we had any issues within the warranty period. It's in the contract, but instead we have been dragged along for several years and now he doesn't even return our calls...Desired Settlement: Replacement/Resurfacing of the driveway this Fall

Review: We contracted with Terra Tec in June of 2014 to perform a major renovation of the landscaping at our home. The project started several weeks late in August and still wasn't completely done when the snow started falling in October. Unfinished work was to be resumed early in the 2015 season. John [redacted] did meet with us January 29, 2015, and we cut him a very generous check ($4000) toward the unfinished work as a show of good faith. He then met again with my wife April 24, 2015, where they did a walk around and reviewed the outstanding issues. A crew was sent out the end of May and addressed two of the issues. Since that crew was here, several more issues have arisen including warrantied plants/trees that have failed to grow or are in poor health and a planted tree that was identified by others as being an incorrect tree per the landscaping plan. The biggest problem however, is the lawn at the base of terraced walls that Terra Tec rebuilt is frequently saturated with large amounts of water making walking in the area or cutting the grass very difficult. It should be noted that prior to the rebuild by Terra Tec, we never had this problem. We have made multiple attempts to contact Mr. [redacted] via phone calls, email, and a certified letter and he has consistently failed to respond.Desired Settlement: Terra Tec needs to contact us, come to our home and review all the problems, and make the appropriate repairs/corrections to our satisfaction in addition to completing the unfinished work.

Response:

Received a quote but owner refused to call back after many messages left on his voicemail and with secretary. At least could have the courtesy to call, if the job is too small or whatever...watching the truck go through our neighborhood to do other jobs is a bit aggravating.
