There are three things that make this firm different from the various other contractors who have done work on my house and property: 1) they actually show up on time to give an estimate or to do the work; 2) Derek (the owner) gives you options that either you had not thought of and/or can save you money on labour or materials; 3) the quality of the work and the materials is exceptional and consistent Care is taken to do it right and so the results have made me very happyThese include quite a variety of projects such as new soffits and eaves; roof vents and baffling; installation of a bathroom fan; new baseboards and the design and build of a new fireplace frame and mantle Future indoor and outdoor projects are planned as the quality and price are just spot on
Derek of Ambrose Contracting was recommended to us in the fall of as we required new shingles and other roofing work done to our two story 1920's River Heights houseDerek was hired after quoting a reasonable price and was there 'on time'! He completed the work thoroughly and the site clean up was great I discussed other internal work we had in mind for a complete kitchen renovation which included removing a partition wallOnce again we hired Derek who did not disappointThe work completed by him included but not limited to; Full demo of the old kitchen, remove wall, re-framing and insulting walls, drywalling and finishing, painting, plumbing workWe went for an IKEA kitchen, which he fitted excellentlyHe was patient and open to our ideas and was on hand to advise on the layout (which often changed as the Reno continued)He liaised on our behalf with the City, structural engineers, electricians and tilers which was very helpful We discussed keeping old features like existing crown mouldings and base boards and he made sure they went back in place carefully and look as good as newHe was careful and considerate to place dust barriers up as we were living in the house while the project was ongoing We have gone through major renovations in the UK on older houses and Derek's work is right up there with the best we have experienced We will hopefully use Derek again for future projects and would definitely recommend him
