Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to meI just wish I wasn't told different stories from different employeesI just wish they would of helped towards repairs because honestly I still feel something isn't rightBut I'm just going to let this go.I do have confidence in the shop as a wholeBut when you got different employees saying different stuff to you on different days it makes you wonder really hard I now have the $to fix head gasket but if it requires new heads I'm screwed

In *** letter and his description of his concern, he stated that his vehicle overheated a couple of times while driving to Fremont and OakdaleWhen the vehicle arrived it was checked for diagnostic trouble codes and found none presentA relative compression test was performed with our Ford
factory diagnostic testerThis tests measures crankshaft speed to calculate compression issues and relative compression was goodThe vehicle idled in the shop and found cooling fans coming on and operating normally, it did not over heatThe technician took vehicle on a test drive to see if it would over heatWent approximately miles down highway and turned around to return to shopCame to a stop at M street and vehicle started to overheat and purge coolant out of overflow bottleTurned off and allowed to cool down and returned to the shopThe vehicle was checked for hydrocarbons in cooling system, resulting in hydrocarbons foundTest results suggest either blown cylinder head gasket, cracked cylinder head or cracked blockGoing forward the next step would be remove cylinder heads and try and determine the cause of hydro carbons in system, this recommendation was declined by the customer*** instead requested to remove thermostat from vehicle, which he stated he had recently replaced, and install cylinder head gasket repair material and top off with water, which was performedUpon removal of thermostat, we found it to be stuck openAs for the test drive the technician drove it in a safe manner to try and duplicate the concern since it would not over heat in the shopIt is our belief that the initial damage happened when it over heated the first time, after the first time overheating *** stated it overheated more timesI do not believe there was negligence on the part of McAuley Ford, that the damage to the vehicle was present when it arrived at the shopThe vehicle has been to McAuley Ford several times for various other repairs, such as fuel pump replacement, cylinder miss fire, tensionersThis was the first and only time it came in for an over heat concern

First I would like to state that it troubles me that customer believes that mechanic on test drive caused head gasket/cracked head concern. I have owned dealership for almost 23 years and first time I have ever had to respond to the Revdex.com. There is no evidence to support that claim or accusation but I will detail as to obvious concerns leading up to vehicle arriving at dealership. Customer has stated that vehicle over heated on several occasions. Repair order #51722 customers stated "Keeps over heating when driving". Our diagnosis was for head gasket failure/cracked head. Would need to tear down to see failure. Customer declined service. I sympathize with customer it's frustrating to have car failures at any time but especially when transport is needed for elderly person. But, again when a vehicle over-heats obviously there has to be some sort of mechanical failure. The problem is not going to fix itself. Customer has stated has to shut it down to let it cool off or have it towed. It may run fine for a few days but there is reason for the overheating concern. According to customer first statement the first overheat started on May 27th, he let it cool down and then drove back to Patterson which is approximately 35 miles (according to mapquest.) Customer stated it happen again on trip to Oakdale but this time he had it towed back. Overheating issue started approximately 27 days before it arrived at dealership.Customer has brought his vehicle to us several times before which shows his confidence in our shop. I have enclosed all repair orders that have been completed on vehicle. We would be willing to help customer resolve his concern but cannot do so without proper tear down and inspection. We hope we can amicably resolve concern for customer. Respectfully Submitted,Marsha Schiltz
