Terry Young Notary Public Reviews (2)

September 30, 2015 Revdex.com 7007 Jefferson St. NE Suite A Albuquerque, NM 87109 Regarding: Complaint # [redacted] Dear Revdex.com, My name is Terry Y[redacted] and I am writing to you in regards to the above complaint. I am a Certified Signing Agent & Notary. The fee I charge is $5.00 per simple...

notarizations, this is if the client brings a document into my office and all it needs is signed and notarized. When Mr. [redacted] called I told him what I charged for a simple notarization. Upon arriving at my office, Mr. [redacted] instructed me we had to log onto a website and fill out an I-9 form. Mr. [redacted] got the website address and we logged on and proceeded to complete the I-9. Since I am not familiar with the I-9 it did take some studying to see exactly what was required to complete the form. Mr. [redacted] had to call a supervisor to ask what was needed to be filled in on the form because neither one of us understood it. When we finally completed the I-9 form, I ask Mr. [redacted] to call the supervisor back to verify that all was correct before I let him go. It did take a total of 1 1/2 hours to fully complete and submit the I-9. 1 completed the forms as expediently as possible. Normally a Texas resident has to go to either Dallas or Houston to have an I-9 completed, or they also have the option of using an out of state notary to help them complete the I-9. Most notaries will not touch an I-9, which is why Mr. [redacted] came to me instead of going to Houston or Dallas. Most of my work is done for large loan companies at a rate of $50 to $100 per hour. Therefore the 1 1/2 hours that was spent to complete the I-9 for Mr. [redacted] was discounted to $50 as it was a learning process on my part. A lot of our time was spent waiting on the supervisor to check over the forms on his end. I feel that I charged Mr. [redacted] a fair rate based on our time and duties expended. Sincerely, Terry L. I am rejecting this response because: When I called Mr. Y[redacted] initially I told him that I needed an electronic I9 notarized and the only fees he mentioned were the ones pertaining to $5 per signed document. He did not advise me that his rates were higher based on length of time to complete. He did, however, mention that his rates were higher if he had to drive to meet me, but this is not applicable in my case because I drove from Amarillo to his local office in Clovis, NM.I would have been more understanding of his fees if he had been upfront about them in the first place. And as far as his inability to complete the I9 quickly that is all on him. He admitted that he was not computer savvy. I on the other hand, have been working on computers since 1996 and am quite proficient using them. I feel that the extended time was a result of Mr. Y[redacted]'s inability to follow the written instructions, which I provided to him in great detail. The reason we had to call an [redacted] manager to get assistance filling out the I9 is because Mr. Y[redacted] could not follow the written instructions without asking for assistance. I had to explain the instructions to him several times and I have never filled out the I9 before, but even with me explaining them to him he still could not get them right.I feel that Mr. Y[redacted] should not penalize me for his lack of computer knowledge. The extended time it took him to fill out the I9 rest solely on his shoulders and not mine. I believe that I am entitled to a partial refund of $30 due to his poor disclosure regarding his rates and due to the extra time it took him to fill out the I9 due to his lack of computer training. The whole process should have taken about 10-15 minutes, but I was in his office for at least an hour and half. My time is important too. Too bad I can't charge a ridiculous amount per hour for it, after all, I still had to drive back to Amarillo after visiting the notary.
Regards,
