(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) To address ***'s response: 1st: As I acknowledged in my initial complaint, [redacted] did refund the cost of the pump. But that was only after his supply company refunded him. He is out no money at this point. 2nd: I... did not allow ***'s Plumbing back in my house because of the unacceptable level of negligence and risk to my family during the gas leak. The [redacted] employee who was out at the house told me it was a very dangerous situation and to evacuate my wife and kids if possible. [redacted] was not in the house during the work except towards the end after the severe leak they caused. They had been drinking. The gas leak they caused was much more significant than before they arrived. Before they arrived the leak was very minor and had likely been there for months if not years according to the [redacted] employee on site. I only smelled it because I had to get within 2 feet of the gas manifold to work on cable wiring. There was no reason to evacuate prior to [redacted] sending out his person who had just gotten laid off from his job working on cars. Again, [redacted] will confirm. I think it's reasonable to not want that type of risk inside your house again. [redacted] also has his facts wrong. I was at the house during the install. He was not. When he refers to my Realtor being there, that was when we got the estimate. The Realtor had to be there to let us in because the house was not ours yet. During the day the service was performed I was home with my 4 year old daughter who had Strep Throat and could not go to school. [redacted] was in physical therapy. I know that because his employee tracked mud all over our house and he was called so he was made aware of the issue before his crew left. The Realtor wouldn't have mentioned anything about a primary sump pump or check valve. That's not her job. However, my wife and mother-in-law mentioned it during the estimate and I mentioned it on the day of the install. As for the $200 in copper pipe. I agreed to pay for that and deduct it from the refund as long as [redacted] could provide a receipt for the pipe that went into our house. He never called me back and thus I had to file this report. If [redacted] can supply those receipts I will be happy with a refund of $366.70. My wife and I are not unreasonable people and do not expect to get the copper pipe for free but we do want to know how much that pipe actually cost. In regards to the check valve controversy, ***'s crew violated the plumbing code by not installing back-flow prevention on the inlet side of the back-up sump pump. The State of Illinois plumping code does not recognize the internal check valve inside the pump for backflow prevention. That was confirmed to me after contacting Illinois Plumbing Program as part of the Illinois Department of Public Health. http:// [redacted] I'm not expert on the plumbing code and I don't expect the BBB to be either. My point is, this was done wrong. There were extenuating circumstances that made it unrealistic for [redacted] to return to the house to attempt to resolve this problem ( [redacted] already had 2 failed attempts at servicing our house) and therefore we would just like a refund of our investment. Like I said, if [redacted] can provide the receipt I'll gladly consider this resolved with a refund of $366.70...That's $566.70 minus the $200 for the copper piping. We believe that's a fair compromise.

1st off I have returned to *** $the cost of the pump The pump had had a manufacture defect not any problem with Workmanship ,2nd *** never gave me the opportunity to make the job right. This is a water powered back up sump system and I had $in copper pipe and fittings to get water to the pump.As of the check valve, we installed a#duel check valve in the water line (required)by State of ILalso the system has a built in ck.valve*** has mentioned he told us he requested a new ck.Valve , *** was not at the job, we met with a lady and a RealtorThe Realtor nor anyone mentioned a NEW check valve to us(i would have made more $$)why would I not install it? As of the gas leak (This was a late night call out) there was never any danger to anyone , the gas company (***) was on site when the gas was turned back on , there was another leak , by the time *** located the leak and turned off @ meter the smell of gas was present ,not any worse than before *** had called Gas Co(If *** was concerned of any danger) , when *** gets a call for a gas leak in your home the 1st thing there going to tell u is to EvacuateFurther more I have spoken with my plumbing supply Company who we purchased the pump and they have determined the pump was defective
