When Mr*** made his original purchase, we were expecting his kayak on the shipment that was scheduled for the following weekWe have no control over *** and they did not ship our boats as they had originally informed usMr***'s kayak was shipped one week late but the GM at the Corpus
Christi store, *** was in contact with Mr*** on a very regular basis to inform him of the delayWhen Mr*** originally inquired about the kayak, he wanted a 12' instead of a 14'We did not have any 12' kayaks available on this particular shipment so Mr*** settled for the 14'These kayaks are hot items and we often sell out of them before they ever arrive in the storeIt is for this reason that Mr*** was given the opportunity to pay in advance to secure his boatBecause these boats are stacked upon one another during shipping, the kayaks on the bottom of the stack are sometimes dented when they come off the truckThe dents cause no issue and once they are out from under the load, they pop out on their ownThis has never caused an issue with rigidity or longevity of a kayakIt is simply an issue that we deal with due to shipping in the heatWe tried repeatedly to explain this to Mr*** but due to some serious personal family issues he was having, he had a hard time listening to our sideBecause of the amount of money involved, we do not keep that amount of cash on site and therefore, we do need time to process a refund of that sizeA refund will normally be processed within days, but we give ourselves days in consideration of our accountant as well as the USPS delivery timeAlso, we spend a good amount of time rigging a kayak to prepare it for the customer and this is partly the reason for the restocking feeWhen Mr*** spoke with *** ***, it was Mr*** who would not allow her to speak*** attempted to explained to Mr*** the reason for the restocking fee and the reason for the delay in the refund but Mr*** would not allow her to speak so she was unable to communicate this to himShe did not hang up on him, she finally spoke over him in an effort to be heardUPDATE: Mr*** called this morning and agreed to take a different, comparable kayak to the one he originally purchasedI am told that he apologized for his treatment of our employees - explaining that he was under immense pressure due to his family issues. Mr*** stated that he will come by on Wednesday to pick up the yellow kayakI have instructed the store employees to have Mr*** pick out a Columbia shirt for us to buy him as our olive branch to him and in an effort to keep him as a customerWe look forward to serving the needs of Mr*** in the future and consider him a Terry's Seaworthy Marine Supply valued customer.?
