This remodel/renovation has been a very frustrating and negative experience. Texas Builders; Construction Services/*** is the company that provided the service and below are a list of the facts surrounding this remodel:
• He stated that the project would be done in two weeks max three weeks and it took 10 weeks (Not including 2 weeks of holidays, almost three months).
• Gave excuses why work was not being completed (workers back, tile man had emergency), that is the contractors job to manage his own workers and should not be used as an excuse to the homeowner on why things are not completed timely.
• Promised items with the bid and then later said it would be extra money. (décor tile on tub area, shower wand included with the accessories)
• Tile edges on shower and tub area are uneven and not level.
• Did not clean up all debris from demo, my wife and I cleaned it up and sent a picture to the contractor.
• Used our garage as storage for trash and unused material not being used any more for over two months.
• I cleaned the garage twice sweeping and moping all of their dust and debris up.
• Used my ladder instead of theirs, and then didn’t put it back the way I had it.
• They broke an outside water faucet that had to be replaced because it constantly leaked.
• Had to constantly monitor progress and report issue about work performed back to the contractor that should have been the contractor’s job to manage. Never was presented punch list from contractor.
• Communication was horrible and they often would not even show up to the site for work.
• Did not stick to the agreed upon payments schedule and right before Christmas came to us requesting more money for the shower glass that was not installed till February 9, 2020. (Was scheduled three times)
• Contractor told the glass vendor to collect the remaining money owed on the glass from us/homeowner without notifying us. (He applied only $750 of the $1000 he asked for in December, making us pay $750 remaining on invoice.)
• One of the shower surfaces was not installed correctly and there was no slope to allow for proper drainage (top piece on half wall of shower where glass was installed, Installers were the ones that notified us it was not done appropriately, this was mentioned to contractor on the date of measurement mid-January and never corrected).
• Contractors vehicles have leaked oil all over our driveway and on the street in front of my house which will require pressure washing to remove.
• The bathroom floor was uneven and took two times of removing many floor tiles and reinstalling them to get it right.
• They created another leak in the tub drain that had to be repaired causing further delays.
• Requested all plumbing work be done by a licensed plumber (email with this information on file) and were told we would be provided receipts for all plumbing work, and that has never happened to date (notifying insurance company of all this).
• The contractor never returned text on Saturday, February 08, 2020, so we will terminate the business relationship.
• Still a punch list of items that have not been completed that we will be working on finding another contractor for.
Also he alluded that he was licensed in *** county and that is how he got on ***. It turns out he is not a licensed contractor in *** County which is illegal. There were no permits pulled for this remodel/renovation.
