Dear [redacted]This email is in response to your letter, which was originally sent to Dr. Weber in a different TDDC office. I reviewed the details of the complaint and I have the following response…As stated by the patient’s wife, Mrs. [redacted], her husband was scheduled for his procedure in May...

2017. Our office did inform the patient that we were not in-network with his insurance and that he would be responsible for payment. It was explained that there would be a charge for the physician’s services, the facility, anesthesia, and pathology. We were able to give an exact cost for the facility and anesthesia. However, it is impossible to give an exact cost of the physician fee and pathology since we do not know the extent of the services beforehand. We do make every effort to estimate as close as possible; and, often, we will over-estimate just to avoid surprising the patient with additional costs after-the-fact. In this particular case, the patient presented to the facility, North Texas GI Center, to pay for the procedure and a conversation took place about procedure costs with one of their employees. The surgery center employee overstepped her bounds by discussing TDDC fees, which she incorrectly quoted to the patient and his wife.Mrs. [redacted] did contact me to discuss the issue. I told her I would investigate what took place and see if I could come up with a satisfactory resolution. After discussing the situation with the physician, the surgery center, and our central billing office, I called Mrs. [redacted] on November 6, 2017 and offered a proposal. I explained that I was now aware of the mistake that was made on the part of our surgery center, and, after discussing it with the treating physician, Dr. [redacted], he wanted to write off any remaining balance due for his services. This left only the balance for pathology in the amount of $154.62. Mrs. [redacted] agreed to pay the pathology portion, which turns out to be less than what was originally quoted. The patient’s account has been paid and is now in good standing with us. We believe the matter to be resolved.I apologize for the delay in getting this response back to you. If you need any additional information, please contact me by email or by telephone.
