The member's credit card had been continually delinquent during all of 2017 and was also over the credit limit.  Because of these factors, the account did not qualify for any type of extension or skip-a-pay because of this status and the member was not offered one.  The...

Thank you for your inquiry and the opportunity to address the concerns of [redacted].  We have reviewed Ms. [redacted]’s share draft history for the past month and discovered she uses the pay-at-the-pump feature at a local grocery store when purchasing fuel. This particular merchant places a $125.00 pre-authorization hold regardless of the amount of the actual purchase, and the hold is not released immediately. This approach by merchants is quite common with signature Point of Sale (POS) Debit Transactions and done at the discretion of the merchant. Unfortunately, when the pre-authorization hold is placed, the member’s available balance is reduced which causes the account to overdraft and result in overdraft fees.    At TDECU we strive to provide great service to our members.  We will be contacting Ms. [redacted] to review the pre-authorization hold process with her to help her understand why her funds are held and how to avoid overdrafts as a result of pre-authorization holds in the future.   Please feel free to contact us with any further questions.   Thank you, Cindy M[redacted] Executive Assistant to Courtland C[redacted], Sr. VP & Chief Retail Officer TDECU - Your Credit Union | [redacted] | www.TDECU.org Toll Free:  1-800-839-1154 ext. 3613 | Direct: 979-299-3613 | Fax: 979-299-0211
