The customer [redacted] had brought his vehicle to Texas Gulf Coast Diesel Performance and Mechanics and had requested to have his EGR deleted and a tune installed into his vehicle. We performed the services that the customer had requested. Upon completion of his EGR delete and tune we had found...

that there was metal particles in his fuel system (a problem that existed before the truck was brought to us). Metal particles in the fuel system is an indication that the injection pump was faulty. Due to the faulty injection pump we had all 8 injectors tested. Injector testing is $30 an injector bringing the total for the testing to $240. Upon completion of the testing it was found that the customer’s truck had 3 bad injectors. We did not charge the customer for the hours it takes to remove and replace all 8 injectors a task that calls for 3.5 hours of labor. Saving the customer a total of $275 because the job did indeed take longer than projected. The customer states in his complaint that his coolant was dirty. This was also a preexisting condition because the customer did not request to have his coolant system flushed (a process that calls for 1.8 hours of labor as per moto logic. A value of $198). We replaced the coolant lost in the process of the requested services with NEW Prestone 50/50 dexcool as per manufacturer requirements. The sediment the customer was seeing was clearly present in either the radiator or coolant reservoir before the truck was worked on. The customer made complaints that he was low on coolant that was due to the thermostats never completely opening up during the test drive we try everything in our power to ensure that the coolant level is where it needs to be however sometimes it takes longer. We usually send our customer with a gallon of coolant just for this reason. However upon pickup of the vehicle we were never given the opportunity to do so because of the customer’s hostile attitude.  The customer has made complaints that there are missing bolts. The so called missing bolts are either no longer required and /or preexisting for accessories such as a dual alternator. The customer makes a complaint that the fuel rail to the injection pump was not bolted down. This also had to be a preexisting condition because for the work done the fuel rail is not even required to be removed! There are some valid discrepancies and we have made numerous attempts to right the wrongs such as the oil dipstick and ccv not being clamped down. However these fixes are not worth the value of the balance owed. We understand that this job did indeed take longer than projected but a majority of that time lost was due to the availability of required parts. The customer was not charged for many of the parts required to get his truck up and running. We did not charge the customer for many of the parts that it took to get the truck back in better shape than what it arrived here in such as the camshaft position sensor, the pigtail, etc. None of the customer’s complaints are detrimental to the operation of the engine and we have made numerous attempts to resolve the customer’s complaints. The truck left this shop running better than what it had arrived. We have gone above and beyond to try and fix this customers discrepancies. The customer left the premises without paying and has refused to let us fix the minor discrepancies that he has.Tell us why here...

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
The vehicle upon return to me was showing low coolant. I was charged $110 for coolant which was paid for on 2/3/17 price per gallon is 14.99 which leads me to believe that I paid for seven gallons. More than enough for the mechanic to drain and refill the coolant system and reservoir that was required to do the EGR delete according to Texas Gulf Coast Diesel since the vehicle only holds six gallons. How is the coolant level low and dirty? Was the system left open where dirt and grim and bugs could enter the system? Was the coolant reused and not replaced like it was supposed to be. All of the questions could be the cause of the coolant issue not because of a prior event, if I was charged for coolant and you drained the coolant system. Also how the thermostats couldn't have opened is outstanding as well the truck was driven at least 20 miles. In this amount of time the engine would have had plenty of time to come up to operating temperature. When my truck was returned to me I received a text message from the owner of Texas Gulf Coast Diesel stating that his son's backpack was left in the beck seat of my vehicle. Why was my vehicle used to run errands for Texas Gulf Coast Diesel? Why does a test drive entail you using my vehicle for personal business! The bolts that were missing have nothing to do with the alternator FACT. The complaint has nothing to do with the alternator. The bolts missing hold the wiring harness which runs the entire vehicle. For this not being bolted back connections could come loose and end up with extreme problems one being fire, engine shutdown, check engine lights, ect. The fact that the intake was zip-tied and missing hose clamps could also end up being detrimental to the engine in that dirt can enter the system causing what is know as ingestion. This would start by eating the veins in the turbo charger then passing dirt and metal into the inner-cooler then the intake of the engine causing warn cylinder walls and blowing piston rings. That is total engine fault. All could be caused by one missing hose clamp and a zip-tie. The fuel line into the injection pump was not bolted down and had to be removed because they removed the injection pump which was stated.
