Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth Reviews (%countItem)

In early 2018, I had a mammogram. They brought me back for a diagnostic mammogram over a lump in my left breast. This was likely the same lump that had been core-biopsied in 1997 and diagnosed as a fibroadenoma, but since that was so long ago, it wasn't marked with a chip and there was a small chance it could be something different. The doctor gave me a choice to either wait 6 months for another mammogram or have another biopsy done during which a chip could be inserted so future techs would know it has already been biopsied and found benign. I told the doctor it would depend on the cost. THR always checks with my insurance ahead of time and calls me to let me know what I will pay since I have a high $6500 deductible. My husband and I discussed it and said if it was less than $1500 we would do the biopsy and if it was more, we would wait the 6 months. The rep from THR called as usual - I believe his name was *** - and told me the procedure would cost $564, so we scheduled it. On the day of the biopsy, the representative presented me a paper saying it would be around $2800. I told her if that was the case, I needed to cancel, but that their rep had said $564. She checked the system and sure enough, found the notes and confirmed it would be $564. I made her write this down in her own handwriting on my copy and I paid the $564 that day . The biopsy was done in the same room as always for the mammograms and took less than 10 minutes. Texas Health Resources then billed me $5353.72 - more than 10 times what they had quoted me. This is because they billed the room as an "operating room" which cost over $4K. Since then I have repeatedly tried to reach them and they never call me back. They just repeatedly assign this to different creditors and I dispute the charge every time. I understand that hospital staff may sometimes make errors, so I have offered that I will pay something additional if they absolve the rest of the debt but I'm not paying ten times their quote when I had an option to wait this out and moved forward based on the info they provided me about cost. They would have known that they intended to bill as an operating room. I have no intention of paying the full amount and if they fail to negotiate with me they will get nothing.

I have forwarded this to the manager of our patient access center to request further info on the patient difference between what was quoted and her actual patient share amount. We do notify patients at the time of giving a deposit that amounts are not a final guarantee of the patient share, there are many factors involved that can not allow us to get a more accurate amount. The manager of the access department will should be able to hear the phone call that was recorded indicating the patient was advised of this at the time of the quote being given.

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:

While I am happy that they responded and are going to look into it, their response was not a resolution - it was just one step. They only said they will have the patient access manager pull the call and listen to it. Their note said nothing of if or when they will contact me afterward. Will they be getting in touch with Revdex.com or me when that has been done? I ask this because I tried for nearly a year to get anyone at THR to pull that call or help me and they never, not once, returned any of my calls. Now they have hit my credit report through Medicredit for over $5000 which is so unjust. I'm willing to pay something to them to resolve this, but I need them to clearly state terms and also that if we come to an agreement, they will issue me a letter of deletion to remove this item from my report. I hope they will work with me because I have been treating with this hospital system since the mid-90s and have always paid all my bills in a timely manner. I've not paid this one because of how huge the discrepancy was between what they quoted me ( and collected from me on the day of the biopsy) and what they later billed me for. It's a matter of principal and I hope they do the right thing. I have no intention of paying Medicredit a penny, so if THR wants to get additional funds from me toward this bill, I hope they accept my offer of an additional $1000 and will resolve this with me through the Revdex.com.

Regards

ID of ***.
Patient ***

This patients concern has been reviewed and determined that due to the time the patient had services we were currently in disputes with BCBS regarding contracts so therefore we were only able to quote patient an amount of 20% due to not being able to collect benefit information due to the contract issues between the hospital and BCBS. Patients were advised of this at the time of service, however it was approved to make adjustment to the patient account in the amount of 5353.72 leaving the balance due of zero for this account. We have sent notification to the agency of this decision so all further collection efforts are stopped as well as requested that in the even they did report this on patient credit reports that be deleted as well as sending patient letter of notification this has been completed.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

My sincere thanks for helping me work through this!

Regards

Worst care I've ever experienced. I've been in here almost a week now and everyone, but my actual doctor and a couple of the staff have been amazing. I came in on doctors orders and respiratory problems and when I call for help I either get none or someone rude who doesn't want to truly assist. I have been sick most of my life and hospitalized several times and never have I ever had to deal with people who are unorganized and unwilling to help. This will be going through my lawyers.
