While the company involved may have filed for some sort of designation of homestead, I do not need one of those, nor did I request them to send me the paperwork to get one startedThe paperwork they sent me (and probably everyone else who bought a new home) FRAUDULENTLY LOOKED LIKE they were going to file paperwork with the county for a HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION I (and I assume most people) do not require a simple 'designation', and I did not solicit any company or service to help me do thatAgain, as in the original complaint, this company is misleading consumers about what they do, and specifically targeting new home owners who might not be aware of the difference, as I was notThey may provide a service, but it is not one that the typical homeowner needs, and they must be fully aware that their printed materials mailed to people are extremely misleading, and look very officialBetween that, and their misleading company name, they attempt to make their paperwork look like it is from the county or other official entityThey fully intend for you to think they are filing an exemption for you.I have no doubt that the company in question knows how misleading their materials are, and that is probably their goalI have no doubt that I am not the first person to complain, nor to want their money backIf they were innocent of this accusation, they would long ago have altered their printed materials so that they were extremely clear about what service they offer, and that it does not have anything to do with an exemption.I did not need the service they rendered, nor is it my fault that they mislead and misrepresented what service they were providing me, and therefore I should not pay for their "time" or effortsThey did not provide the service I was paying forThe check I wrote (and they deposited) clearly says that it was for "exemption processing"If that is not what they were providing, and they had no intention of fraudulent activity, then they should have seen that, knew what I was expecting, and returned the check with an explanationThat would have been the honest thing to doI have attached a pic of that check from my bank's website.It is one thing to trick people out of a $fee, it is quite another to mislead people about a service supposedly offered that eventually could cost them hundreds if not thousands of dollars on their property taxesThey also make it clear on their materials that you can "rest assured/easy knowing that your paperwork is on file with the county and no followup would be required"Had the materials not specifically said that, I probably would've figured this out sooner, as I would've checked in with the county to make sure everything was in orderBy the time I figured out I had no exemption on file (what I thought they promised), I was too late to meet the deadline for filing for the exemption with the countyThis is the reason why I will be looking into leagal action against this company to pay that extra amount of property taxes I will owe, and any court and legal fees applicable. I am rejecting this response because: I understood completely what THS does prior to your response. My concern is why you are presenting THS as the only way to file a homestead exemption. In addition, your marketing mailer is bait and switch. You ask for $35 with no representation that an additional $30 will be required days/weeks later.  I really don't even care about the money, though a refund is justified, it more if he prinicple of how you are presenting your services. THS is simply not transparent and preys on new home owners.

I am rejecting this response because:It is my understanding that you have filed the homestead designation for my home with the tarrant county clerk I have contacted them and they have clarified that this has got NOTHING TO DO with homestead exemption. I called Dallas homestead, it is FREE to home owners to file.  This company is using public information to gain profits. I have returned the "DESIGNATION OF HOMESTEAD FORM" that this business is talking about and I wrote REFUND PLEASE on it, 7/12/16.  As fast as they cashed my check, this business can surely return my $35.00 just as quick.  This company is a fraud and takes peoples money for no reason, they are not a law office or have power of attorney to protect anything that I paid MY money for and the homestead is filed for FREE in Dallas County! I want my $35 refunded as soon as you get this complaint back.

I am rejecting this response because:This business is not legit.  I did not confuse it with anything  other business.   If this was a legitimate business I would have received a correspondence stating that it has been filed with the county in which I have not received anything at all..  If this is a legitimate business then please send me correspondence in the mail stating the results of my filings.   Otherwise my complaint stands.
