Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because:Mr [redacted] 's comments are at best, half truthsFirst off I requested a Work Order / Purchase Order from the Austin VA Outpatient Clinic as a vet I am required to doAs previously stated the first request was made on September 4t for the problem on the front wheel of my scooter and a second time on September 14th, this time it was for the same problem on the scooter but now I was having problem with the scooter lift once again. On contacting Texas Medical Mobility Specialist I believe it was the week of the 5th of October I spoke with an employee by the name of Joe, friendly and appeared to be helpful is helping me to see just what the problem with the VA not sending the proper paperwork to get the issues resolved on my scooterWhen I called back the next day I spoke with Mr [redacted] , it is true, he did not raise his voice but his attitude and overall demeanor was anything but professional or helpful in resolving the problem in getting my scooter and lift repaired as soon as possible.I explained to Mr [redacted] that I did need the problems to be repaired as soon as possible as I had appointments in both Austin and Temple VA the next week and could not make my appointments without the scooter and lift in working orderAt this point is when Mr [redacted] , very facetiously stated, "bring me a check and I will repair your scooter"Mr [redacted] did not state he would hold a check until the paperwork came through from the VA.I went out to the Austin VA and talked with the Prognostics manager for the Austin VA, Mr [redacted] and advised him of the problem and he assured me he would get the issue resolvedThe next day, Friday October 16th a woman, I believe her name was [redacted] , not sure of the spelling, called me early AM and stated she would come out to my apartment that day by noon to repair my scooterAbout 2:00PM she called to state she was running late and would be there by 5:00PM, "promise"Somewhere a little after 5:00PM stating that she was tied up in traffic but would be there as promisedThe lady arrived at my apartment at approximately 6:45PM and ask what apartment I was inAt that time I told her she would have to do the work on my scooter in the parking lot by my truck, in my opinion this seen to not set well with he, but as this is a senior complex, there is no work to be done in front of the apartment as it would block the walkway.I met her in the parking lot, she proceeded to turn my scooter over on it's side on the asphalt scratching the side of the scooter, breaking the right front stability wheel and bending the basket attachment and breaking the restraining strapsThis all happened so fast I was going to tell the ladt that I had a tarp 9in my truck that she could of laid my scooter over on as to not damage itOn trying to remove the front wheel she stated that the wheel was frozen up on the axleAt that point Mr [redacted] got out of their vehicle to assist her, until that point I was not aware he was thereOn his attempt to remove the front wheel he did not have the proper tools to do the repair so I loaned him a wrenchAfter replacing the wheel I ask about the replacement wiring for the scooter lift, the lady stated she would order it on Monday and bring it out and install it when the part came in.On Monday October 19th I went back out to the Austin VA and again talked with Mr [redacted] about the problem, damage to my scooter, unprofessional attitude of both Mr [redacted] and the lady with himMr [redacted] stated to me that there had been numerous complaints about Texas Medical Mobility Specialist and Mr [redacted] Mr [redacted] then arranged to have another contractor complete the work still needed on both the scooter and scooter liftOf which this was completed as was stated it would, and by a company that extended both a high degree of professionalism as well as simple human compassion for a disabled vetAny further questions please feel free to contact me Regards, [redacted] ***

Who told me if I did work without receiving a PO or call or some type of preauthorization I risk not getting paid (Her signature is on every payment) When Mr [redacted] called on Friday afternoon I explained this but also sympathetically explained that if he would guarantee the payment if form of a check I would meet his demand and go to his residence to do a repair job and bill accordingly I knew there is no guarantee on payment unless the VA calls me I don’t get to bill them arbitrarily I also advised him that I would gladly hold the check until he had opportunity to contact the VA and get authorization I would then give it back to him I explained to him the VA won’t allow me to do repairs all day and then on monday I give them a bill for all the people that came by or called The veteran must contact the VA first Then we can come out I must say some companies and mine included will do work without the PO It is a rarity and a chance each company takes We do the work, hope he contacts the right people and a couple days later the authorization comes It frequently never does and the job becomes a loss Basically he has two choices when he needs a repair He can call the VA and they will issue a order for my or any company to do the repairs or he does have the right to call a company such as mine and demand a fix now and the local repair company bill him accordingly This was a concept I failed to get through to Mr*** Our Apologies for failing in our attempt to inform Mr [redacted] of these procedures Texas Medical [redacted] Sometimes the veteran thinks the the VA buys the equipment from my company and therefore by default am obligated to repair it

To whom it may concern,   My name is [redacted] and I own Texas Medical.  I am a veteran myself and take great pride in my opportunity to continue supporting our military veterans.  It is true Mr. [redacted] contacted Texas Medical on Friday Sept. 25 at approximately 5pm.  The...

date is accurate.  The time I only remember it was after 4:30 and that is the time the Veterans Administration closes.     The VA purchases the equipment from the manufacture at a greatly discounted rate.  My company is contracted to deliver the equipment for a delivery fee.  When the equipment needs repairs the VA will choose a company and pay them to repair it.   The VA owns the equipment and they contract different companies to repair equipment they own.  When Mr. [redacted] called my company he demanded repairs.  I advised Mr. [redacted] I am a mobility repair company and would gladly go out on Friday afternoon but would need some form of guarantee of payment.  Most likely the VA would pay but normally they call me with a purchase order or verbal authorization to do the job.  I simply in a calm tone advised him he needed to contact the VA.  They would issue me a PO (payment) to go and repair his equipment.  He said that it was after hours and he couldn’t get a hold of them.  I understood and would go out and do the repair just like for anyone else.  We just need a guarantee of payment or authorization from the VA to proceed.  He stated that if I had a contract with the VA I was bound to do all repairs.  I explained to him that once before I did a job because a veteran told me to.  I sent the bill to the VA and received a call from the CHIEF of Prosthetics [redacted] (who by the way is currently still the Chief of Prosthetics.)  Who told me if I did  work without receiving a PO or call or some type of preauthorization I risk not getting paid.  (Her signature is on every payment).  When Mr. [redacted] called on Friday afternoon I explained this but also sympathetically explained that if he would guarantee the payment if form of a check I would meet his demand and go to his residence to do a repair job and bill accordingly.  I knew there is no guarantee on payment unless the VA calls me.  I don’t get to bill them arbitrarily.    I also advised him that I would gladly hold the check until he had opportunity to contact the VA and get authorization.  I  would then give it back to him.  I explained to him the VA won’t allow me to do repairs all day and then on monday I give them a bill for all the people that came by or called.  The veteran must contact the VA first.  Then we can come out.  I must say some companies and mine included will do work without the PO.  It is a rarity and a chance each company takes.  We do the work, hope he contacts the right people and a couple days later the authorization comes.  It frequently never does and the job becomes a loss.  Basically he has two choices when he needs a repair.  He can call the VA and they will issue a order for my or any company to do the repairs or he does have the right to call a company such as mine and demand a fix now and the local repair company bill him accordingly.  This was a concept I failed to get through to Mr. [redacted].     Our Apologies for failing in our attempt to inform Mr. [redacted] of these procedures.   Texas Medical   [redacted]    Sometimes the veteran thinks the the VA buys the equipment from my company and therefore by default am obligated to repair it.
