I Received a letter in regards to a complaint made by [redacted] about her sod lawn replacement. There was a delay in replacing it last year due to the fact that the drought caused so much damage that it would have been a waste of time & money replacing then. Our team went out to her property last week and not only replaced the sod in question but from what I understood from ***'s recent email they did some sod installed without charge her side yard area.I understand that it took a while but the damage from last year was extensive and we needed better weather to make sure that the sod took this time properly Continuing water is going to be a must to make the area thrive Our sod is of highest quality and always makes any yard a lovely to sit & enjoy.Thank you***The Thayer Nursery Corp (Landscaping)Hillside StreetMilton, MA [redacted] [redacted] Nursery 617-698-2005Fax 617-698-0882www.thayernursery.com

We contacted the client and apologized for the misunderstanding on the Rose of Sharon size expectations and have taken steps to hopefully resolve the situation to her satisfaction. We pride ourselves on striving to make all our projects' end results beautiful & making our clients happy & satisfied. We honestly envisioned planting Rose of Sharon's (4-feet Tall) with White Flowers and A red throat as we discussedThe plants mature height in approxyears would have grown to be 8-feet to meet the client's expectations & goalsSince we were not able to complete the planting tasks a refund is being processed

Thayer Nursery Corp's Landscaping sent out one of the teams to address the client's concerns as quickly as we could. When Mr*** originally called we automatically put him on the schedule. Even though very busy we knew of his distress and wanted to make his landscaping experience
with Thayer Landscaping a positive one. I'm sorry if it wasn't fast enough but we sent a team out as soon as we had an opening. When the Landcare team returned to his property they fixed everything he wanted looked at and spent the entire day making sure our client came away contented. Here are a few of the tasks we provided for him during our warranty work: installed dense grade along the fence, top-dressed lawn & over-seeded

I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does satisfy my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint #[redacted]. I understand that by choosing to accept the business response that my complaint will be closed as resolved. They did not replace any sod on the side yard and that was not requested.

We first met with the owner/landscaper on June 10, 2017 to
review our project.  We explained we
wanted two Rose of Sharon shrubs with white flowers and red centers.  We told him we wanted the standard variety
which are very common in our area and grow to 8’-12’ in height.  We showed him the large porch where we wanted
the shrubs to create a privacy screen.
At no point in our discussion, did the owner indicate there would be any
problem getting what we specified.  He
estimated they would be planted by June 24, 2017.  Payment in full for the total project was
provided on June 17, 2017.
Part of the project was completed on July 17, 2017.  The Rose of Sharon shrubs were not
planted.  I immediately began calling the
business to find out when the project would be completed.  I was told the shrubs were not ordered
yet.  I called over 20 times in July, August
and September.  I never received a call
back from the owner/landscaper.  The only
Thayer person I was able to speak to was an employee who stated she was “only
the bookkeeper”.
A Thayer employee showed up on September 21, 2017 with two
Rose of Sharon shrubs in the wrong color.
These were refused.  After
repeated additional calls to the business, I was told by the bookkeeper that
none of their suppliers had the shrubs in the specified color.  When I personally called local retail
nurseries, I was able to locate shrubs that had white flowers with red
centers.  I was always asked if I wanted
the standard variety 8’-12’ high or the dwarf variety 3’-6’ high.  I located two nurseries that had shrubs in
the standard height and correct color. I
notified Thayer of this and provided the names of the two nurseries.  I never indicated that full grown plants were
required.
On October 26, 2017, we received a call from the Thayer
bookkeeper.  We still have not been personally
contacted by the owner.  The bookkeeper
stated that they had 2’ high shrubs that would grow to 6’ and we needed to call
back immediately to get these planted.
She followed up with an email and now the shrubs were 4’ high.  These are the dwarf height variety not the
standard height variety we specified and we need for a privacy screen.  Obviously, these are the only shrubs available
since normal planting time has passed.  Also,
it is now well after our first frost which occurred on October 12, 2017.  At this point, I have no faith that the
correct shrubs will be planted or will survive this late in the season.
I request that one half of payment made in the amount of
$1,250 be returned to resolve this issue.

We had spent a lot of time searching all our local resources for the height specifics the client is now asking for (8' to 12') and found none. We had located the Rose of Sharon color specifics the client originally wanted but now having them rejected because the height isn't meeting their...

expectations. The 8' to 12' height they want is not available.  The industry standard for the height to plant a new Rose of Sharon plant is between 3' to 4', and it wasn't possible to locate the full grown plants anywhere locally. Once we received the specific plant material variety in house I contacted the client to update her with the information and to let her know we'd be out right away to install them.  It was then I was told by the client the size she wants which isn't matching up to what is possible and available.   The client said her sister located some Rose of Sharon plants in the color & height range they want.  I sent an email requesting the information be forwarded to me so that we could purchase the plants immediately & install them right away.
