The #1 Stop Shop Reviews (3)

To Whom It May Concern, My name is [redacted] owner operator of The #1 Stop Shop Inc located at 1373 N Little Creek Rd Dover De 19901. In regards to [redacted] I met her about a year ago when I repaired her front bumper on her Honda Accord the vehicle she filed the complaint on. At that time...

[redacted] and I talked about the other paint problems she had on her car, which were the clearcoat blemishes on the hood, roof and trunk lid. She ask about the rest of the car and if it needed to be painted too. I told her that the body on her Accord "did not" need to be painted because the minor scratches that were in the clearcoat would buff out with a high speed buffer which would save her money in the long run. I told her I did not do overall paint jobs and that an average overall paint job on her Accord would cost $2000.00 or more depending on where she took it. I told her for me to repair the blemishes and repaint the top surfaces I would charge her $600.00 and to buff out the rest of the body I would charge her $300.00 to $400.00, so in the long run she saves$1000.00 or more. She said that was cool and she would be getting back to me the follow spring when she got her taxes back. On and around the 3/5/2014 [redacted] stop to the shop, it was a day or two after the snow fall we had that week, because [redacted]'s Black Accord was still salt covered. [redacted] took me out to her Accord and pointed out the blemishes on the hood, roof and trunk lid, plus the top of her passenger outside mirror cover as well the passenger side rocker panel. She ask me if I'd would fix them as well as the blemishes on the top surfaces. I said no problem I'd take care of it. [redacted] never mentioned buffing out the rest of the car nor did she say anything about painting anything else on the car. I put her on my calendar to drop of her car on 3/12/2014. On 3/12/2014 [redacted] dropped off her car. On and around 3/18/2014 I contacted [redacted] to inform her that her Accord was finished and her told charges were $600.00. I did not charge her for fixing her mirror cover or rocker panel. [redacted] arrived with her parents to pick the car on or around 3/19/2014. There was a light rain falling but not pouring as [redacted] states. When they got out of her parents vehicle they went straight to [redacted]'s Accord and proceeded to the right fender and wanted to know why the mud guard was not screwed tight to the fender. I told her I didn't know because I didn't do any work on either side of the car other than the right rocker panel and mirror cover. [redacted] called me the following day and said she minor concern and wanted to stop by and show me. I told her to come by to which she did. Her concerns were a minor scratch on the hood and trunk lid. I told her they were very very minor and I'd take care of them with my high speed buffer.I ask her if she could drop it off one morning on her way to work I'd bring her to work and bring the car to her at lunch time  saving her the time. She then ask about painting the rest of the vehicle once more I told her that it didn't need to be repainted but buffed out. To which I told her again it would be a $400.00 charge verses another $1500.00 or more to repaint. She left and the following day [redacted]'s parents brought her Accord to the shop telling me about minor surface scratches on the hood and trunk lid. I got my high speed buffer and removed the scratch on the hood showing her father that they would come out with ease. Then [redacted]'s mother started to complaining about the surface scratches in the fenders, doors and quarter panels stating that they weren't there when the Accord was brought in originally and that they felt that they should be taken care no charge. I told them what I had told [redacted] the day before and what I told her last year that it would be an additional $400.00 to buff out the rest of the car verses another $1500.00. [redacted]'s mother stated they would call the Revdex.com and complain. I had no comment other then I'd be more then happy to take care of any and all the problems she had with the top surfaces no charge but that didn't cover the buffing out the fenders, doors and quarter panels. [redacted] wants me to refund her $600.00 not for the work I did but for work she needs to have done and does not want to pay for. From the business side of it all I can do that because that's not good business. If she'd like to set an appointment for me to take care any and all of the problems with the work I did I'd be more them happy too. If there are any question I can be reached at 302-736-5900 shop 302-270-2505 cell.
                                        ... Sincerely
                                        ... [redacted]

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[redacted] is correct in pointing out my confusion on having the entire car repainted. If you review my complaint however, you will see that this information is irrelevant to its nature.  It seems to me, as time has passes I continually find the haste in his work.  Upon picking my car up from [redacted] on 3/19/2014, I proceeded to drive directly home. Waiting an hour or so for the rain to subside, I went back outside to review the work done on my vehicle. Still damp and cloudy outside, all things were not evident. At that time, I did notice my license plate had not been put back on and I contacted [redacted] who informed me to check and see if it were in my trunk. This is an example of the haste of the work done on my Accord. The license plate was in my trunk and upon reinstalling, I noticed the drips around the plate mount (picture shown in initial complaint).
It wasn’t until the next day when the sun was out was I fully able to thoroughly check my car. I found a few scratches in the new paint, and I found what appeared to be a white powdery substance in several areas of my car. This substance was caked in corners and creases, as well as on many of my rubber and plastic trim pieces. That afternoon, 3/20/2014, I stopped in to [redacted]’s to address the situation.  At that time, I did not address much more than the few scratches I had found as [redacted] had a very relaxed attitude with my concerns and proceeded to tell me about buffing the rest of the vehicle for more money. I no longer expressed any further concern to him as I felt at a loss for words. I then went to my parents, upset about the situation and asked my father to walk my car with me and go talk to [redacted] himself.  I personally have little knowledge of body work and my father possessing slightly more knowledgeable in this area, this seemed like the appropriate thing to do. My father did inspect my Accord with me agreed, my concerns were valid. Him and I then made a list of the concerns to bring up to [redacted].
On 3/21/14, when my parents approached [redacted] with said list of concerns he proceeded to follow with the same solution of buffing my entire car and that it did not need to be repainted, and that for additional money it would look good as new. At that time, my parents called me at work and asked how I felt about the situation. I told them he will not be getting any additional money from me and they could just leave it alone I would file a complaint with Revdex.com.
On Saturday, 3/22/14, realizing that [redacted] would not be fixing the mistakes and being the only day I had time, I spent six hours cleaning the exterior of my vehicle. As it turns out, the white powdery substance on the surface of my vehicle stained my rubber and plastic trims. After trying every method of cleaning I could think of, my trim still looks as it does in that picture. While some spots did lighten, some did not at all. Attached, you will find a picture illustrating the damages on my trim. Shown in that picture is my sunroof, located on the roof of my car which was clearly painted by [redacted].  On the very same day, upon hand washing my car, I washed over the passenger side mirror (also painted by [redacted]) and it fell off. The plastic cover he painted on the back of the mirror, has little brackets that hold it to the mirror itself. Those brackets are now broken off, leaving a very loose and unstable mirror cover to fall off at any time.
What is failed to be addressed, is that I am no longer interested in having my entire vehicle painted nor am I confused about why [redacted] did top surfaces only. What I am concerned about is what the nature of the work he did do, looks like. I do not want to take my car back to this man to fix anything he has done, as I feel it should have never left his in that condition in the first place. If the tag was put back on my vehicle, the white substance cleaned from the cracks, the drips and scratches non-existent and the mirror properly intact I would gladly say that he has done a good job on my vehicle. On the contrary, I have had to clean these things up myself the best that I can. It is to my belief, that when [redacted] returned my car to me, he did not anticipate me to take note to such subtle things. I also feel that [redacted] finds no fault in the work he provided and instead would like to steer me in the direction of future work. To me, that attitude beside the work that was provided, is the very reason I do not trust this man to fix these mistakes and I no longer wish to deal with him.

Review: I hired this man to paint my car due to blemishes in the paint. While the blemishes are no longer visible the paint job seems to be a rush job and appears rather sloppy. There are scratches in the brand new paint, as well as paint drips that have now dried. When I initially picked my car up, it was sitting in the pooring rain and I could not see any of this. Once it dried and I was able to see it in the sun, these things were very evident. I went back the very next day to [redacted] myself in regards to this as well as my parents on a second visit. Both times, [redacted] proposed what he could do for more money. I do not feel that the hastiness of his work should cost me more money, I feel that this should have been done correctly the first time.Desired Settlement: I would prefer to have my money refunded to me so that perhaps, I can take it to a professional and have this work done correctly as it should have been done.
