Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2017/10/11) */
This unit was first brought to our facility after the customer had the vehicle in a different shop for repairs. The original repair was to correct a very harsh stumble/sputtering in the engine; no power condition. The fault code was for the...

Camshaft position sensor erratic (code#723/10), and exhaust gas recirculation fault (EGR) (code#2791/9). The unit also had two active faults for the Anti-lock brake system due to bad sensor wiring cut at the rear axle. We notified customer of speed sensor wiring damage and they declined the repair informing us they would take care of that problem. The customer had the camshaft repair done at the previous repair facility.
When we first looked at the unit we found it was two gallon's low on coolant and both amber engine lamps illuminated. We looked over the vehicle for obvious damages and documented faults all fault codes. During the repair process we went to remove the rocker box cover to inspect tone wheel on camshaft, per the troubleshooting, and found the bolts that hold the water manifold support bracket had been stripped out. After continuing with the troubleshooting for the camshaft code it led us to inspecting the camshaft. Our tech inspected the camshaft and found it to be okay and our next step was to install a test Engine Control Module.
After following the troubleshooting for the EGR fault code, we found the EGR actuator needed replaced. With the customer recently having an aftermarket repair facility replace the EGR actuator but continuing to have the same issue, we were able to get this covered under parts replacement warranty.
After performing the repairs described above, we test drove the vehicle for approximately 50 miles to verify the repairs and had no issues. Unfortunately, after the customer picked up the vehicle they experience a number of intermittent issues with the engine harness that took place at different times. In our industry this is something we see rather frequently on older equipment with high miles. And this vehicle had approximately 830,000 miles on it when it was at our shop for repairs.
With all of that said, we are happy to work with the customer to address any additional issues they might be experiencing with their vehicle and will do our very best to track down every issue we can while the truck is at our shop.
