When I was called to the *** it was Mrs*** that called meWhen I showed up at her house I talked to her about the jobWhen I was available to do it I called herAt that time she told me they were short of money and asked if I could delay the installI agreedShe called me a few weeks later and we set up a date to install the shower unitWhen I arrived she introduced roe to her husband and told me he would be at home while she went to workThis is why the invoice is in her nameI dealt with her.Her husband did not show me the shower unitHe did not negotiate the priceWhen I did see the shower base I brought it to his attention that it was damaged and that I needed the instructions to install it correctlyHe told me to install it and I said I still needed the instructionsHe was not happyHe did pick up a new base and it was a right hand drainIt should have been a left hand drainFor all his time in the trades he should have known this.I did have to put drywall up because it is a manufactured house and when they are built they put up the drywall and then fit the tub or shower on top of itThe framing is not standard and this is the best way to shim out the wallsIt's original. As far as the small water damage, the sub floor was 1" thickI told Mike that I did not know if I could fix it until I took up the old floor and inspected the floor joistI told him that if the damage was to extensive a building contractor would have to be brought inI was able to repair the flooring and rim joist. The shower doors were installed correctlyThe instructions were followedIt is not my fault that the unit that was supplied was an economy unit. The home owner supplied the materialI asked if he wanted me to haul away the debrisHe said he would take care of itThat was not part of the verbal estimate, but I would have gotten rid of it.The price I charged for the tub install was $600.00, which I told Mrs*** it would costThey added the new shower valve install and we ran into the rotted floor, which costs extra.Mrs*** did send me a check for $along with a note stating that this was theamount that me and her husband agreed toI did not agree to that and have had no correspondence with him.The last day I was there Mr*** had to leaveI showed him what I had done and he was happy with itHe was taking care of the drywall that needed to be finished and I showed him the gap along the top rail of the doors and he said to fill it with caulkHe was happy with the install until he got the bill.I am glad that I did not run into termites, black mold or more extensive damageI believe that he would have wanted me to pay for all of their repairs. As I told Mrs***, this price was for a installDue to the fact that I do not have X ray vision I cannot see what is behind the walls and under the tubAll extra repairs are extraI understand that the Revdex.com does not know me or the *** so I have attached a few of the cards, notes and letters many of my good customers have sent me.This will be my last correspondence on this issueI do not have the time due to a great business and I feel that the only way Mr*** can be made whole is for me to give him his repairs for freeThat is not going to happenI will not let him use the threat of a bad review with the Revdex.com as blackmail so that he can save money on his job.Sincerely,Andy E***Andy's Plumbing Electric and Home Repair LLC ax***@gmall.com812-363-812-934-

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ***, and have determined that the response would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below
This was a complete job estimateNot a by the hour job.I have over years experience in constructionI hired this job out because I am on disability and unable to do it myselfI had two offers for the same jobSame amount of moneyI went with Andy because he advertised on my housing additions magazine and he appeared to be more professional. There was some small water damage. He replace a piece of sub flooring approx16" x 60" along with scabbing two pieces of 2"x8".The unit Andy installed was suppose to be installed on the studs without dry wallAndy installed drywall on one side and not the otherThe shower unit is off to one sideThere is dry wall missing above one side of the shower unitIt will be quite difficult to finish out the shower unit to make it look goodThe shower doors were installed wrongThey were installed too close to the edgeThe top piece that covers the doors and the doors glide on is too far over the unit and there is a gap at the top were water can get in and cause the unit to rust from the insideShortening the life of the unitThe only way to fix this is to remove the shower door unit and reinstall itThe problem with this is that there are now holes in the shower walls that moisture will be able to get in after this is done so now the shower walls need to be replaced. When we negotiated the job I showed Andy the shower floor unitHe told me he could install itOn the second day of the job; (it was suppose to only be a 1/day job at the most.) he told me he didn't understand how to install the shower baseI began to explain to him how to install itI got really frustrated and told him I would go buy a new shower basewhat did he need that would make it easier for him to complete the jobHe told me what he needed and I drove hours to pick it up for himWhen I returned he began to install the baseHe came to me and explaining that he told me to pick up the wrong baseIn my frustrations I told him to install it so that now my shower drains on the wrong side.Andy told me at the end of the second day that the bill was now going to be $because of the floorThat was understandableI can accept a 10% overage.I ended up hauling away all the debris from this jobThis was part of the estimateNow it is going to cost me at least another $to $to get this job done correctlyI would have to buy new shower walls, have the shower doors taken down, the new shower walls replaced (taking off some of the drywall that was installed so that the walls will fit correctly.), re-install the shower doors, then finish the trim around the shower unit.I am sending Andy a Check for $This is more than reasonable and far for the job that was trying to be done at my residence
Best Regards,

I received your notice of a complaint that occurred on 7/25/I was contacted to remove and old tub and replace it with a new shower base, walls and doorI mainly talked with his wife when I showed up to discuss the projectI told her that $will normally cover the cost of labor for
installShe expressed concern about water damage behind the wall because of a window that was covered upI told her that any water damage or other problems would cost moreShe agreedNever asked for hourly rateI arrived at the job, removed old tub and found extensive water damage to the floor and rim joistI asked the homeowner to come into the bathroom so that I could show this to himThe floor was 1” thick and I could stick my broom handle all the way into the crawl spaceI told the owner that this needed to be repaired before the new shower could be installedHe agreedHe left to pick up material while I removed the rotted floorThe repair took hoursNot a installAfter the floor was repaired I started to install the baseIt was cracked and had no instructionsIt was also a different brand from the wall surroundI again showed this to the home owner and he said to install it with the cracksI told him that I needed the instructions to install the base correctlyHe got upset and said that he would get a new baseWhile he was gone I installed the new shower valveThis was not part of the original bidIt was an additionHours for the shower valve installOnce I had the new matching base I installed the shower unit and wallsThe shower door was also supplied by the home ownerDue to the inexpensive wall unit the ledge for the shower doors was very narrowWhen the top rail that holds the glass door was placed on top each side had a small gap that I pointed out to the customerHe said to caulk the joints at the edgeWhich I didFor all the problems the unit looked greatOriginal bid was verbal and homeowner did not ask for a written bidI would have gladly given oneBid price for install $laborHours for floor repair at $is $Shower Valve install which was extra at hours $Total labor $Plumbing parts and tax $Total was $After the floor was finished on the second day I told the homeowner that the labor was up to $dollars as I was leaving for the nightI thought I was being nice keeping him informedAlso when I talked to his wife initially I told her that I would replace the drywall that needed to be replaced for the tub installation but I did not finish drywallShe was ok with thatAttached is a copy of our original E-mails about the job Thank You, Andy E*** Andy's Plumbing Electric and Home Repair LLC ax***[email protected] 812-363-812-934-
