This is a review of my partner's and my experience dealing with your company yesterdayWe called the store and asked to be connected with Roland G***, because the original sales associate who initially contacted us, did not contact us backI spoke with Roland and he came to my house and did the measurement for the wall in my libraryI stated that I wanted fixed shelving with no holes or marks and they were to be completely aligned throughoutI also wanted a complete shelving system downstairs for my office later, after I saw how the work in the library wentSomeone later contacted me from California Closets and told me the earliest spot for instillation was in three weeks at around 8:30am, and would last up to hoursI felt like this lead time was good and I was a happy customer till this pointThe installation crew came on time and started "demolitioning" the wall by taking off the baseboard and marking the wallI noticed that the backing for all the shelving was warped so I told Mike that this was unacceptable so he went ahead and fixed this problem by adding pieces cardboard and wedging it behind the back of all the shelvesAfter a hour and a half, they realized that the shelving was made incorrectly because it would not accommodate the light switchI asked them how could such a blatant error be madeThey looked at the diagram and saw that the measurement Roland had made was wrongRoland had measured from the top of the baseboard up to the light switch, not from the floor up to the light switchThey called the store and the store said they could raise the shelving by a couple inchesThis would not work because the top of the shelving must be inline with the top of the window trimI asked them to replace the original baseboard back, but they had already broken up that baseboardThey offered to come back and put in a replacement board but why would I want an awkward piece of board that did not match the other baseboards, I want the original baseboardThey also tore up the paint above the base board and tried to erase the pencil marks on the wall but just smeared it and made it worseThey said they never had a situation like this before where they had to take all the shelving back to the storeI do not blame the installation crew at all, they were great workersI called Roland and he sounded very angry and upset over the phoneI asked him what had happened and he said the measurements were done wrong so what do I want him to do about itReally? No apology or saying sorry or owning up to your mistakes? Just a blatant SO WHAT? I asked him why he was getting angry at me over his mistake and told him what I wanted happening was for him to fix his mistakeHe said he will pay for an electrician to come and move the light switch down a couple inches or to a different room, plus he will give me 10% back for all the troubleThe switch does not belong in another room, nor a couple inches lower than all the other light switches in the entire houseThere is no other option but having to remake all six shelves again, because they were fixed shelves and they cannot have any holesWe cannot have one shelf higher than the other five, they must all be alignedRoland hung up very angry and upset at me over his mistakeHe said he will talk to his manager and see what they could doRenee C***, the manager for California Closets called and did not apologize once for Roland's mistake eitherRather she went on and bragged about how her store does million dollars in sales a year, they do hundreds of installations, they never make such a mistake, and how Roland G*** is their top salesmanThat is all backend extraneous information I do not care about, nor need to know as a customerAll I care about is getting the shelves installed properly that I agreed to pay for in a timely mannerShe was telling me about how much of a disadvantage it was putting her company to fix Roland's mistake and remake all the shelvesShe said they would be losing moneyIT WAS YOUR COMPANY'S MISTAKE SO YOU NEED TO FIX ITWHY DOESN'T ANYONE FROM CALIFORNIA CLOSETS TAKE SOME ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THEIR ACTIONS? Also what am I supposed to tell people when they see my wall that's busted up from your mistake? The original lead time for the shelves was three weeks, now she is telling me I have to wait six weeks for them to fix their mistake? Six weeks with a busted up wall?
She also said she doesn't see the point of fixing their mistake if I am only going to say bad things about their companyYou are now threatening me to not tell anyone about your mistake? Is that how you only have star reviews because you threaten people that you won't fix your mistakes if they tell anyone? OK Renee, since I left this review and let people know about your mistake, what will you do now? I am fine with a full refund, plus you guys need to hire a contractor to get the mess you made fixed to its original conditionMorale of the story: MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE AND THINK TWICE ABOUT WORKING WITH CALIFORNIA CLOSETS
