An A+ experience. I had slight movement of a sunroom the prior owner added to the house. Always on time with excellent communications. Gave me several options to perform the work and the advantages to each. Actually hand-dug the holes for 5 piers so that I didn’t have to tear off the large wooden deck attached to the sunroom. That alone saved me thousands of dollars and lots of inconvenience. When work started the construction crew work really hard, straight through, until the job was completed. They cleaned up thoroughly. I am very pleased with Basement Doctor and highly recommend this company.

We had concrete lifting, filling, and sealing of the front porch, step, and driveway. The crew at the Basement Doctor did a great job! Highly recommend!

Hired Basement Doctor to do a job at our home in *** on 9/25/19; came to the house on 12/3/19 to do french Drain and did not do it. They removed only bushes on both sides of the house. Put two wall beams in the basement to straighten out wall but didn't do. Told us the job would take 5 days and only was at the house for 2 days. Left the property a mess; didn't clean up anything around the property. Left the dirt everywhere. Didn't put the dirt back the way it should have been done, it was piled up everywhere and left it. When it rained it was very slippery to walk on, Spouse almost fell and got hurt, which they wouldn't have cared less about. They did a very poor job and charged two much for the repairs that never got finished.

Good afternoon, First I would like to say, we here at The Basement Doctor are sorry for any misunderstanding that occurred during doing business with us. (1) Mr. talks about the french drain, The foreman that was doing his job explained that it would not have helped in doing it so they agreed to take it off the bill (See change order signed by Mr. in the attachments). (2) As for the bushes, we only remove what is needed to perform the work, and was not contracted to remove any others, (3) Mr. mentions beams in his basement, yes we installed (2) two beams on his wall in the basement, but it states that we do not guarantee the wall to go back, as we state in our warranty section that I included also in an attachment. (4) As for the amount of time on the job, our office personnel do not know exactly how long a job will take when scheduling, each job can be different so we give enough days to complete the project versus adding more days that could inconvenience our customers, also some work was removed as per change order. (5) Mr. states that his yard was left a mess, Unfortunately, it was done in December and has been a wet winter, Under the warranty page you will find his initials signing off on yard conditions, Mr. also says we did not remove his tree? We are not tree people nor does it state that anywhere in his contract. (6) and as for price, Mr. mentions was too much for what we did, We are sorry that he feels this way, but he did not have a problem with the price until the bill was due. We are more than happy to meet with Mr. and address his concerns and we have made several attempts to do so, and he will not allow us to meet with him.

They did a great job installing piers to even put out door. They also did the slab jacking and it fixed the issues we were having (space between the carpet and baseboards, cracks on the walls, etc). They do a good work and have friendly workers. I would recommend them to fix any foundation or slab problems.

We were very happy with the way the company treated us & we were very pleased with how they water proofed the crawlspace of the house. However they did 3 piers on a room addition in the back of the house, they said they stabilized it but the large crack that was there is just as big & when they moved the wall even a very little bit, the back wall which had no cracks started cracking. So I'm not happy about that & I'm not sure that that was the best way to fix the problem.

Working with management to help with my crawl space water issues was very professional. Rick M was awesome to work with and very knowledgeable. The work was started very promptly and installing the waterproof system was excellent! Dave B ( foreman ) was also a pleasure to work with and he answered all my questions as the project was ongoing. The cleanup was also an A+ as they had to dig up some plants and move dirt throughout the project. After they were done, you couldn't tell they had dug in the landscaped area. Everything was put back where it was and everything looked like new. Couldn't have been any happier with the end product, price of the job and would recommend them to my friends and family. Very Happy!

I contracted w/The Basement Dr to raise my house at the referral, Bobby ***, owner, when they put I-beams to straighten the basement walls. He said my house dropped 1" & causing a crack in the S. wall brick running from above the door to the Attic vent.
They sent a crew who very slowly over several days dug to below the basement, inserted jacks/pylons & raised the house. The pushed the dirt about 2' above the foundation line, filled in my window well & left equipment here.
I called several times, to get the dirt spread out/away from the house, pick up their machine. I was scheduled 3 times w/Ben ***, he was a no show/no call. Finally he came out picked up his equipment, sent one guy w/a shovel, he left the dirt above the foundation line. On 3/14 we had tornado winds & rain. My basement flooded w/mud, I emailed/called they sent a crew who moved the dirt away but didn't finish spreading. I submitted quotes for cost, they have ignored and not sent anyone to finish.

I went into contract with The Basement Doctor in December 2017 for a retaining wall repair/stabilization using helical piers. The work began on March 8, 2018 during the day. When I arrived at home that afternoon, my entire street was full of LGE and Louisville Water trucks and equipment. The Basement Doctor crew hit a gas line while digging for the piers. They had to shut our gas off while trying to find the leak. We had no heat all night long. ( 3 children in the home) While they were trying to fix the gas line, they hit a water line and had to turn off our water for 28 hours. The water and gas company worked digging and checking for gas inside and outside of our home until after midnight on the 8th trying to get some of it repaired. The following day they continued to work on the repairs all while having no running water inside our home. (my husband works from home). After all the water and gas line repairs were completed, The Basement Doctor finished installing the helical piers the next few days. The employee who was working for The Basement Doctor had to leave the job due to a family emergency and no one was there to finish. After a few days, The Basement Doctor sent someone to "finish the grade work" in my yard. While doing this on a Saturday morning, the employee destroyed my front yard. He tore up my landscaping. dug ruts into the the ground at least 6-8 inches all over, ran over landscaping blocks causing them to crack.

I immediately contacted the company on the following Monday to voice my concerns. I spoke with 2 different gentlemen via texting and phone calls in an attempt to get my issue resolved. After no resolution, I was given the owners contact information. The owner and vice president of the company came to my residence to look at the issue 2 weeks later and promise to have a landscaping company of their choice come out and make the necessary repairs. They agreed that the original work was not done appropriately and they apologized. A month went by after the owners visit and no one had contacted me regarding my landscaping repair. I called the owner again and got the name of the landscaping business. I contacted the landscaping business and was told that my job was not a priority since it was so small and he didn't know when he could get to me. ALL summer long, I attempted to talk to the Basement Doctor to seek a resolution. Because part of my contracted job was financed through a finance company, I reached out to them to explain my situation. They instructed me to file a consumer affidavit against the Basement Doctor. I did this and the finance company has attempted to reach out to The Basement Doctor on my behalf. I asked for my cash deposit of $1500 to be refunded and for my yard to be fixed. According to the finance company, the Basement Doctor would no agree to my request. The finance company is not able to reach The Basement Doctor at this point and they are not returning any phone calls. My yard is a complete disaster at this point and no one is being held accountable.

Business sent a check to customer for $1,500 and customer was to request the complaint not be published.

Basement Doctor is a professional service company that puts the customer first. After the heaviest rainstorm in over a decade, hydrostatic pressure forced water into our finished basement through minor foundation cracks. Although the Basement Doctor was being “flooded” with phone calls from similar homeowners, we waited less than 24 hours before an estimator arrived and located both foundation cracks. He gave us an acceptable repair estimate before leaving. Due to other landscaping needs, excavation work was performed by another contractor. Once completed, the Basement Doctor crew arrived on the scheduled date/time and sealed the cracks, foundation wall, and footers.
After that work was completed, one additional water issue was identified as a result of a utility contractor drilling through our foundation to install a new gas line but failed to properly seal around the hole. We contacted the utility company to create a repair order, but no one ever followed up with us. After two weeks, we called again to learn 1) there was no record of our repair order existed and, 2) there was no interest in resolving the water problem their contractor created.
We again turned to the Basement Doctor for help. The estimator contacted a service manager who immediately called and scheduled a service technician to seal both the interior and exterior hole around the gas line. After a few months, we have had no additional water leaks through our foundation. We chose the Basement Doctor to solve our water problems and highly recommend them to solve yours. Unfortunately, we can’t choose a different utility company that accepts responsibility for their work, or their contractors.

We needed our basement/underground garage walls stabalized. Since The Basement Doctor had such good reviews we utilized them. The first red flag was when we were misquoted. The salesman must not have been very educated on the job. He quoted us for a wall they couldn't even do because a fireplace was there (fireplace could have melted their product). The removal of washer and dryer and utility sink was not included in the quote, nor was an electrician to install an outlet for the sump pump. I will note that we didnt pay extra but some work we expected to be done was not able to be completed. Fast forward to scheduling an appointment. We were quoted in April 2018 and couldnt be scheduled until a month and a half out on Monday June 11 and we were told it would take 4 days. They did not finish the work in 4 days and instead of completing it the Friday in that week they had to come back Saturday because they were starting a new job Saturday. In the meantime they had broken a plumbing stack in our laundry and didnt bother to tell us about it until their "fix" didnt work. They then told us they needed a plumber to come out and fix the stack. We at this point told them we had always used and liked *** Plumbing and we preferred to use them. Instead of using them, they brought out *** plumbing. We had a clean out on our stack and when the repairs were done a new clean out was not installed. The concrete that was poured was sloppily done so we had to schedule someone to come back out to clean this up (had to wait a month). July 6th, my birthday, I had a scheduled appointment for HVAC, I took him down to the basement, I opened the door and it was completely flooded. The sewage had backed up. I had to cancel the appointment with HVAC. We called The Basement Doctor and told them we didnt think the plumbing was fixed correctly. We were told nothing could be done until Monday. Several boxes of stuff from moving in had gotten wet and we spent my birthday scurrying to get stuff out of the basement/garage so we could salvage it. Monday comes around and *** came back out and said they didnt know what was wrong they didnt camera the line that their only job was to get it open. They were uncomfortable doing work from this point because we had previous work done on the opposite side of the house by *** (who again, we asked to use from the start) and they didnt want to "risk voiding a warranty". We scheduled an appointment with ***, they came out and ran a camera in the line and said it looked good and there may have been a soft clog so the went ahead and ran their auger to ne sure. They mentioned maybe a connected sewer line in the main line was the cause for back up (to which The Basement Doctor did call the county to come look and nothing ever came of that) and they did pay for *** to come out. *** had remembered we had a clean out in the stack that *** repaired and they didnt reinstall it. We had to have *** come back out and the guy who came forgot the part and had to leave to go to the hardware store. The plumbing was good for a couple of weeks before it backed up again. Of course this was on a Friday we contacted *** thinking they'd come out because the camera and clean out should have been under warranty. We would have been required to pay an emergency after hours fee, we also contacted our POC with the basement doctor because the work done was requested by them and warranty would be through them. They told us at this point nothing else could be done by them. *** came out that following Monday and we went ahead and paid $250 to have them jet the line and camera again. We found the issue. We have a couple of separate clean outs ans sewage outlets that eventually combine to one (the one in the laundry room and another one in adjoining the garage). We were so focused on the area in the laundry room that was broken that we didnt bother to check the area in the garage. It turns out the sewage like that connects to the house (right by where the basement doctor installed the new sump pump and still an area where a lot of jack hammering was done) broke and was slightly disconnected from the other section of line. The break in the line caused any toilet paper that was flushed to catch and eventually clog the line. This is why it continually clogged after being reopened. We havent contacted The Basement Doctor with the new findings because they checked out of helping us after they got their $13k. So we are left with a broken line and the hope the insurance company will cover the additional 5k it cost to repair it. This has been ongoing and a burden to us. There were times where my faith was restored in The Basement Doctor but ultimately I decided they are like any other big company and about money. They dont care that we are still dealing with this or the fact that none of these backups were going on until after their work. At least the rain water doesnt get in now.

We are sorry that Ms *** was disappointed. In 30 years of business we have prided ourselves on our commitment to customer service and satisfaction. Our company mission statement is that we show respect for our team, our customer, and our community. We returned to Ms. home repeatedly, even after the problem was determined to have been outside of our scope of influence and a city line issue.
TBD installed waterproofing and steel I-beams by Foreman Rusty for *** throughout the week of June 11th, 2018 as quoted by Roger K.
This bid included that the washer, dryer and utility sink would need to be removed as the contract says in the “job details (continued)” under the “customer will:” section. It states that all items will be moved at least ten feet away from the work area, all items meaning everything that could impair the ability to install TBD’s products. Since access to the perimeter walls in a necessity and items like the sink are along the perimeter, they need to be moved. In addition, the contract states that the customer is responsible for supplying electric to the sump pump. When the Foreman learned that the customer was not supplying the electric as intended he contacted TBD’s subcontracted electrician, Mike L, and had a dedicated circuit installed at cost to TBD. As the customer did not adhere to the contract, work was slowed down causing the job to run over into Saturday at further cost to the company.
Following the installation the customer called TBD offices with a concern about the drains in the basement. Rusty, having been the Foreman on the job, responded to this call immediately. Upon inspection he realized that there was a small break in the line caused from TBD’s work and informed the customer that it would be handled as soon as possible. Several plumbers were called to provide the fastest solution for the problem. The home owner did ask for *** Plumbing but they weren’t able to get to the home for almost a week, so in an attempt to speed the process along, *** Plumbing was contacted and they sent a technician out. The break in the line was repaired by *** Plumbing that day, and The Basement Doctor paid the bill. There was no mention by the home owner during this process that *** Plumbing didn’t reinstall the plumbing in the exact manner it was removed, nor was there ever an initial “fix” done by TBD as no one was even aware there was an issue until the customer called in. After the repair was installed, the drains in the basement backed up again a couple weeks later and TBD responded to the customer concern by sending *** Plumbing back to inspect the line they had just repaired and to see why there was another issue as it was under warranty. *** Plumbing cleared the line but did not run a camera through it so further insight could be provided as to the cause of the clog. The Basement Doctor was not updated on any of this by the home owner or the plumber. When the clog happened the third time, TBD Service Manager Matt B went to investigate the issue along with a *** Plumbing representative. It was determined that the clog had originated outside of the area repaired and couldn’t be scoped for lack of access to the inside of the line wide enough to fit a camera. It was at this time the home owner made everyone aware that there was a cleanout in the line *** Plumbing replaced that was not reinstalled. The cleanout line was installed promptly by *** Plumbing. All plumbing appointments to this point have been paid for by The Basement Doctor and scheduled at the convenience of the customer.
Once the cleanout was installed, *** Plumbing was contacted to take care of the clogging and scope the line to determine once and for all what the cause was. After a lengthy appointment between ***, The Basement Doctor President Bobby M, Service Manager Matt B, and the customer’s brother, it was determined that the issue was occurring outside of the customer’s home and that TBD was not at fault. Even after this determination made by ***, President Bobby M paid the bill for the visit by the plumbers on behalf of the customer and contacted the city to get the exterior lines scoped. The home owner was instructed to follow up with the city but never did, in fact the home owner called TBD to follow up with the city for them although TBD isn’t responsible for this. Once again Bobby M stepped in and assisted, leaving two messages with the city inspectors. With his third call someone told him that The Basement Doctor could not obtain this information as we are not the residents. This message was passed back to the customers.
At no point did TBD ever ignore a complaint made by the customers, every particular area of concern was addressed by the service department. No additional money was ever collected from the customer for The Basement Doctor’s additional time spent, and TBD paid all of the plumbers even after it was made clear that beyond the initial line, the clogging was not being caused by TBD’s actions.
After all business between the customer and TBD had concluded, the customer contacted Service Manager Matt once more with the same issues originating from the floor drains. Matt made it clear that Basement Doctor was unable to help but contacted *** Plumbing on the customer’s behalf anyway. He was told that Basement Doctor could not set an appointment to get a technician out to them without being the ones to pay for the appointment. Being that TBD had paid out thousands in plumbing bills as well as paid for the electrician and the countless hours spent by employees of Basement Doctor, TBD determined that it had acted in good faith and even gone beyond excellent customer service in trying to assist this customer. Matt informed the customer that they would need to contact a plumber on their own, and that was the end of contact between the two parties until the Revdex.com review was submitted

Before purchasing our home work was done by this company to seal the outcome of 2 sides of the home from water/moisture. I spoke with the owner who said the seal put on the outside would not allow water to come in prior to our purchase of the home. On many occasions water has penetrated the foundation and come in since we have moved in. The owner was out and stated he would come out and redo the work and the he felt the work was not down "past the footers" of the house to prevent the water from coming in. I have called the office so many times I have lost count ( not really - I have a record of all the calls). He needs to honor his work and come fix what was not done correctly in the first place. The guarantee of work was transferable.

The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati Response

I will call Monday as I thought this was already taking care of in my service department ( so sorry )

In June 2017, The Basement Doctor provided leveling service for our sidewalk with their PolyLevel system. The sidewalk surface was level when the servicemen completed the work on June 28. The service included a 5-year warranty that the surface would not drop more than 1/4".

By early July 2017, one section of sidewalk had sunk again. We have subsequently called The Basement Doctor on three separate occasions and explained that the sidewalk section has sunk. We were told that the message would be passed on to the PolyLevel group, and that they would be calling to schedule the repair; however, they have not contacted us in any manner.

The Basement Doctor of Cincinnati Response
