Upon showing interest in a one bedroom apartment, at The Blake House, managed by *** and ***, a an older married couple, I was shown 2 suites. I was told by the building manager, *** that the application fee was $40. I asked what they were looking for in an a future resident upon which *** advised that all decisions are made by corporate.
A couple days later, on 5.11.20, I called to follow up on the status of the application and was advised by *** that my credit score was too low. I asked what whether there was a required score and she advised 700. I was so appalled because my credit score is a few points short of 700 but most of all is that they did NOT DISCLOSE THIS INFORMATION ON THEIR APPLICATION NOR WAS I ADVISED. THEY WERE DECEITFUL IN TAKING MY $40 application fee. Had I been aware of the requirement, I wouldn't apply nor did I know that was the ONLY requirement that would become my demise and disqualify me.
I further asked *** for a copy of my credit report and he advised that corporate said I need to get it from the credit bureau. I asked for a letter of denial from the office as well as their phone number and was told that the phone number to the corporate office were private number and served as their home numbers.
It is my civil right to receive a letter form this company explaining the reason for denial in writing, refund my $40 for not disclosing the credit score requirement and NOT having any other acceptable terms to accommodate applicants who don't meet their credit score requirement.
am unable to locate the owners but I am told thy have several properties on the west side of Cleveland. How do I know that they are not racist especially when I have no proof my credit was ran or have any feedback! This is very shady and fictitious!
came in looked at a few apartments. She wanted to fillout an application on one. I asked how her credit was and she told me “Pretty Brood” she brought the app back and paid the
$40 app fee as everyone does. I sent it in and it came back as a fail. The owner nevergives me the exact reason for denial so after I got her call wanting more information I checked with him. He told me the credit score was 648 and she had some collections on her record so he had to deny the application. Anywhere you go to get credit , buy a car„ apply for a loan, or rent an apt. No ones says what their criteria is. It’s the person's responsibility to know how go or bad their credit is.
We do not give out copies of credit reports as they can get a free copy from the credit reporting agencies each year and can check Credit Karma anytime. As for being racist you can check with anyone in my building present or past, White, Black, Indian, Russian, they will tell you we are like a big family here. They are not just my tenants they are friends also.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
*** NEVER advised that there was a specific credit requirement of 700 and if I am able to get a free credit report with my date of birth and social so can they because he has this information just the same. How do I know that a formal company was used to pull my report when I have not received any written feedback from the party retrieving the credit info. What about the background check? They would rather have criminals with high credit score than decent people with maybe one collection item that is over 5 years old? I need written documentation of the company that pulled/reviewed my credit and a refund since NO DISCLOSURE OF CREDIT REQUIREMENTS being 700 was given in advance! I need a letter or rejection from the company that pulled my credit and my background check as well as a refund of my application fee of $40!! It is my civil right that I receive these documents since anyone could have intruded in my person information. I am not satisfied with this reply from Blake House and demand the information and refund I am requesting. The Blake House is not being transparent.
