Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:I am writing in regards to complaint #*** that was filed earlier this month against Body Lab Tattoo and piercings located at *** *** *** **, Seattle, WA 98106. On July 28th I went into the tattoo shop with a good friend of mine to get a long awaited tattooI personally have never went to this tattoo shop before, but I knew the owner from previous encounters so I decided to give it a tryI was introduced to Steve O, we went over what I wanted and where I wanted itSteve set everything up and started the tattoo, once the tattoo was completed he went over after care with meI thought it was kind of odd that he instructed me to leave the plastic wrap on for days, I have roughly tattoos and I have never been instructed to leave on plastic wrap for that period of time, the most I have ever left the plastic wrap on has been 4-hours, when I brought this to his attention he said that this would allow the tattoo to heal from the inside outI still thought it was odd, but I was reassured by Jon that in fact this was true and it was a new way to heal tattoos fasterI am not an experienced tattoo artist so I followed their instructionsThe next day the tattoo started to bother me and became itchy, by the second day it developed a rashI contacted the tattoo artist on the 3rd of August and visited the shop that eveningAfter showing them my infected arm Steve (the tattoo artist) said ouch that looks painful and is defiantly infected, he than instructed me to put Neosporin on it, after writing a formal letter and presenting the infected tattoo to him Jon offered to pay me 40% of what the tattoo costHe stated he would get it to us within the next couple days, all that I have received from him is $40.00, after more research I also found out that the individual that tattooed my forearm is not even licensed, he was hired in March and continued to work there until this month, when I spoke with Jon in regards to my refund he acknowledged that he did hire Steve and he was aware that he was not licensed, this is a violation under RCW 18.300.090It is a violation of this chapter for any person to engage in the commercial practice of body art, body piercing, or tattooing except in a licensed shop or business with the appropriate individual body art, body piercing, or tattooing license. I have also included the link below, the link states that under no circumstance should you leave a plastic wrap on for more than hours, leaving the bandage on longer will not allow the tattoo to breath thus creating a perfect playground for bacteria and germs, this could also cause a massive infection. *** I believe under these circumstances I should be allotted a full refund as well as additional monetary compensation which would allow me to go to a “licensed” tattoo artist to have this fixedIn addition I believe Jon should not be allowed to run a tattoo shop unless his shop receives a full inspection of not only the premises, but also all tattoo artist and piercers on sight by a reputable Washington state inspectorI believe this will prevent another consumer from experiencing what I experienced. Thank you for your consideration, I look forward to hearing from you soon!Sincerely,*** ***

This dispute was already settled. We initially agreed to the amount of $40 which was paid. This is the percentage that I received for the procedure. I own The Body Lab Tattoo and Body Piercing LLC. Though I am the owner of the business name and location, I am not the performer of the tattoo. If they...

want remuneration they should seek the tattooer Steven O[redacted]. All tattooers in the state are independent contractors and are liable for their actions. I have explained this to both Ms. [redacted] and this complaint. They initially agree to receive the percentages that I could offer and I had them in a position to be tattoo, at no cost to them, to fix the issues. Ms. [redacted] got impatient on the time it was taking. I am a new business owner and I have absolutely no money to pay at the moment. I was in contact with Ms. [redacted] regularly and explained the issue of being flat broke at the moment, but, I assured her that I would pay her the $90 owed her. I still will. If there are any further questions, please contact me.Sincerely, Jon G[redacted]
