Review: I had tickets to see a concert at their venue. When I arrived they denied me entry saying I was slurring my speech and they thought I was intoxicated. I explained to them while I had had 4 beers before getting on the train (for an hour and twenty minute ride), the slur in my speech was due to a head injury I had sustained years ago. They still refused me entry and as I further plead my case, the door manager, who refused to identify herself ([redacted]), began smirking and speaking to me with condescending tones. I then asked for my money back for the tickets and was laughed at by several staff members. At this point I began to feel robbed so I called the police. When they arrived I explained my situation and even offered to take any form of sobriety test to prove I wasn't intoxicated. They said that they would speak with the staff on my behalf but it was a private establishment and could reject anyone they wanted. Upon returning, they said the that the staff were refusing me entry or a refund and my only recourse was to file complaints and a civil suit. I then left feeling very unhappy.Desired Settlement: Refund of the price of the two tickets I didn't get to use and the forty dollars in travel fees they made me waste

Response:

Dear sir or Madame,

In response to the complaint filed against The Bowery

presents, we believe we might know the incident refereed to by [redacted],

however we would like to make sure we are talking about the right person before

we respond to this complaint as there is a discrepancy in the number of people

involved, in [redacted] version he said the two people weren't allowed in but

if we have the right person we at Bowery presents believe has was on his own,

The three bits of information we would like to clear

up this case are:

1) what show or what date did [redacted] attempt to come to the venue?

2) when he was not allowed entry was he on his own?

3) how old is [redacted]? the reason we're asking this

particular question is that our policy with intoxicated patron who are over 21

is to tell the to leave the area for a while soba up and come back later, only

the under 21 year olds are refused entry at first contact with the guest.

We are very anxious to clear our name for this complaint,

and I thank you for any assistance you can offer.

sincerely

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I am answering the questions they posted in their response to my complaint. The show was for the [redacted] I was alone at the time but had two tickets for the show and upon being turned away told my date to not bother coming all the way down as I had been turned away. At the time I was 34 years old.

Re complaint ID [redacted]

Dear Sir or Madame,

After the information you gave me in response to my first email I was able to determine what incident [redacted] was involved in, below is the security report from that night,

Male patron in question was witnessed drinking alcohol outside the venue. When he approached the ID checker station he fell into one of the ID checkers, at which point security removed him from the line and after confirming he was of age to possess alcohol asked that he go somewhere locally to get some food and sober up. He would be granted access to the show at that point.

The patron stood across the street in view of the front door, and returned approximately 15 minutes later, with a strong smell of alcohol and visual signs of intoxication, at this point he reached the security search checkpoint. While being searched he was found to have illegal, non permitted contraband. He was directed by security to dispose of his contraband or he would not be permitted into the venue. He refused and at that point was notified he was being denied entry for failure to comply with venue policy.

I hope this clears up any question as to way we denied [redacted] entry in the our venue, please contact me directory if there is any other information you need from me to get this issue resolved,

Sincerely,

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

I did not consume alcohol in front of the venue, I did not fall into a staff member, I sat across the street only to await the arrival of the police after being denied entry and I did not have illegal contraband. The venue is lying!!!!! All I want is a refund of my tickets price yet still they refuse,.....and the fact that they would deny me entrance for any reason and not return my money (as it was collected through them, according to the bands management) only speaks to the lack of ethics this establishment has in the first place.

Review: I purchased tickets yesterday for the EOTO concert and found out within two hours later that I had a family event I needed to tend to on Friday night. In a panic, I visited [redacted] website to find that I can get a refund within 72 hours - I was very relieved! I called [redacted] and they told me they could not honor that and they would have to speak with the "host" and at the point *may* only be able to get me a refund for face value($50, instead of the $63). Desperate as I am, I agreed. They told me that I should hear back by Friday...knowing there is a possibility of no refund, I asked if I may sell the tickets on [redacted] or site of my preference. They then tell me I am the only one who can pick up the tickets at Will Call one hour prior to the show and I must present my ID and the credit card I purchased the tickets with. I literally am in a bind and unable to even sell the tickets. This makes me very aggravated.

In the meantime, I decided to do my due diligence and contact [redacted] whom I thought was the host. They were EXTREMELY helpful! They told me they would refund me, however, it is Bowery Presents decision since they are the host. They provided me with Bowery Presents number and even said they'd call on my behalf.

Well, we both called and both our requests were rejected. I am feeling as if [redacted] will not have much more pull. The only thing that [redacted] suggested is that [redacted] changes the name on Will Call so I can sell the tickets.

Please help me out here - I have a family emergency that I must tend to on Friday and am unable to attend the concert nor be there to retrieve my tickets. Ideally I would love a refund for the full amount but am willing to settle/be satisfied with the "face value" of $50 or to have the name changed at Will Call so I can attempt to sell back these tickets, although they are still not sold out to my belief.Desired Settlement: Ideally I would love a refund for the full amount but am willing to settle/be satisfied with the "face value" of $50 or to have the name changed at Will Call so I can attempt to sell back these tickets, although they are still not sold out to my belief.
