Shaddy
Have bought dozens of products from the Brick Warehouse over the years. They have a policy of refunding unused extended warranties for an instore credit. I generally buy these and forget about them. Had to call for warranty work on my range which is still under their extended warranty which reminded me that the extended warranty on my washer and dryer had expired , not being used. After booking the service call for my range I called the Brick to inquire about getting my rebate on my unused washer and dryer. I was told that one needs to call in to start the credit procedure within 90 days of it expiring. Over the last 20 years that I have been buying products I have never been told by any salesmen that this needs to be done. They are just anxious to make the extra profit. And obviously the Brick would rather see this expire than to give it back to you. I also mentioned that it was not written on the invoice. I read the agent the part on the extended warranty and there was no mention of this. To this the agent replied that it is written on their website. First, some people may not have a computer or be computer illiterate. Second, why would a person look for hidden loopholes after the purchase is complete. Shouldn't they have this in writing on their section concerning the warranty on their invoice and shouldn't the salesmen be telling their customers when buying it. Seems to me their are not trained or encouraged to do so. I have bought washers, dryers, ranges, refrigerators, several bedroom suites, living room suites and more over the years and never has this come up. Very disappointed. Will not buy from the Brick again. This is very dishonest, or at least not being totally up front with their customers.

My issue with the brick is about the warranty product they offer, specifically the Extended year plan on appliancesAfter the failure of our Kitchen Aid dishwasher ,we were informed that our warranty was expiredAfter closer examination of the warranty it was discovered that in fact it was not an extension of years after the year manufacturer warranty , that in fact, it started on day of delivery, thereby overriding the first year warranty and ending in the fifth year rather then the sixthMy issue is that I clearly paid top dollar for the Kitchen Aid name and their full one year warranty, and then paid the Brick again for the first year by their override of Kitchen Aids warranty
Sound confusing? It is , and none of the above was told to us at point of sale ( brick store in Thunder Bay ) , although their policy is defined in the warranty's pages of legalize talk, which very few buyers read through nor do we bring lawyers to the buying event
And as expected the Bricks legal department simply responded with " read your warranty terms and conditions, and as I should have
My *** complaint is the omission of details by the Brick sales staff when they up sell the extended warrantyAnd they should clearly define what it is they are extending , I.eExtended time on the current warranty or extended coverage of the current warranty*** ***
