Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/09/02) */
In response to this complaint, we indeed accept Groupon vouchers, we do have a contract with Groupon. Also the service that was performed was an eyebrow threading service not an eyebrow waxing service just to clear that up.
There was 3 young...

girls that came in, probably ranging from 16-20 years of age approximately, and were provided eyebrow threading services.
After the service was completed, one of the three girls wanted to use a Groupon voucher, which was completely fine however, the voucher was not redeemable and the girl would not allow me to redeem the voucher from her phone. She said "don't touch my phone".
So to try to solve this Groupon issue we suggested to her to call Groupon so that they may assist us to retrieve the voucher code in order for the service to be paid for.
The girl responded by saying she did not have enough battery charge on her phone and then we offered for her to use the business phone to call Groupon and she did not want to cooperate.
She then said she wanted to go to her car and charge her phone.
They did not have no cash or credit/debit card to pay for the service provided and they were not willing to solve the Groupon matter.
By this point it seemed like they wanted to receive service for free due to their not so normal actions.
There was no threatening involved nor snapping of fingers as stated or screaming...we simply wanted to receive a form of payment for the service we provided to these young girls and it seemed like from their part there was no way to pay for the service.
Then the girl said she was going to call her mother to retrieve a password and user name in order to get the Groupon voucher code, all while her charge on her phone was weak!!?
The way Groupon works is that when you purchase a deal from their website, you must have the voucher present either printed out or on your smart phone to show the business your code and the business has to redeem that code so that the business can receive a payment from Groupon to compensate for the service the business provides the clients.
We really wanted to work it out with them but if they had no way of proving to us that their Groupon voucher was valid and without any other form of payments, how are we supposed to deal with this matter?
Yes indeed we did say that we would call the police to help us assist in this situation because by this time, one of the girls mother was very rude on the phone and in fact she was the one swearing at us and claiming we did not understand how to speak the English language, and other things that were said. I asked the mother for her name and she replied "my name is F[redacted] You!" Also speaking of threatening, she started to threaten to go on Yelp review and put negative comments, stating that we have messed with the wrong person. Also after one of the services that was paid for by one of the other girls, the mother says, "oh don't worry we will just call the bank and cancel the credit card", with a smile on her face.
These people started asking us questions that were not related to the service they were provided. Questions about where we went to school and our license and about waxing service that was never performed on them.
To make it clear, State of California does not require you to have a esthetician license in order to perform eyebrow threading service.
However you are required to have a business license which is indeed posted on the wall for the public.
As well, State of California does require you to have a esthetician license to practice esthetician service and yes indeed we do have a license esthetician that performs these services and her license is posted in the room on the wall where clients can look at.
These girls were asking us questions not related at all to the threading services they received, and we have the right not to answer any personal questions to anyone if we feel uncomfortable talking to them about anything not related to the service.
We really have a passion for our business and we have been in this business for a couple years now and never have we seen someone go to great lengths to receive free services and try to get a way with it and when it does not work out for them, try to turn the tables around on the business and make them look bad.
Our reputation is nothing to brag about, however we do invite you to look up our business on Yelp review and also Facebook and you will see that a 4.5 star out of 5 stars does not come by being a fraud or scamming clients.
We work so hard to try and keep our clients happy before they leave our shop and we have a very high rate of clients that return to us and become regular clients.
If my letter does not make sense, I do invite the Revdex.com to stop by our shop and meet with us to have a better understanding of who we are and how we do business and we have no problem showing our license to you if need be, we have nothing to hide.
Also keep in mind if we were operating without any license, the State would not allow us to open such business, you must pay in order to receive a license and also when you go to apply to lease a space from a landlord, one of the requirements that you must have is a license and experience in your field before you can sign a lease. Although I feel this information about licenses and requirements is unnecessary to explain, I have taken the time to do so in order for the customer to understand what is involved to be in business.
Last thing to add to this letter, please do some research about this customer and what they have done to other businesses besides mine, you can look at their profile on Yelp and the reviews and comments they put to these businesses.
It seems to me that they go around doing this quite a bit judging by their negative reviews to these other businesses as well always writing that they are dissatisfied with the service and want a refund...
As a matter of fact, they did the same thing to a business located next to my business in the same shopping center, you can look up on this customers Yelp profile and search in their reviews the business name (Kotija).
Thanks for taking the time to read my side of this story.
I feel that to resolve this case, there is no need for apologizing on our part since we were not at fault, we were kind and courteous to them when they walked into our business, and were treated with respect like we normally treat all our other clients.
If they could not afford the service, we would of gladly provided the service to them for absolutely no cost had we have known what their situation was, that's how much we care about our clients and how much of a passion we have for our business and what we do, but instead they decided to take a different approach to the situation.
It's simple, when you receive service from any business, you must pay for that service somehow or you should not purposely try to get the service done for free.
Resolution, The Brow Shop does not welcome back these clients again for any type of service at all. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone with this type of behavior.
Thanks.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2015/09/08) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The girls asked for waxing, not threading but were not given a choice. I am not sure what the difference is but let's make that very clear. [redacted] states in her response. the groupon voucher was "completely fine" but why did she tell us she does not accept these deals? Another customer stated the same issue with [redacted] on another complaint forum, this is some kind of scam [redacted] is pulling on people, I'm not sure what she gains from this but she has been doing this for quite awhile. To me, she is ruining her business with bad and shady services.
[redacted] states we could use her phone to call groupon in her response, NEVER one time was this offered, this is a not at all correct. It was not a groupon issue, this was a shady business trying to illegally scam 3 girls and a mom. If we wanted a product for free, why would we have groupons that were brand new and valid as well as one of the girls paid for her service with a credit card. We readily showed our phones to [redacted] but she refused to have anything g to do with the groupons. She did demand we hand over our phones, snapped her fingers at us, by this point, why would we hand her our phones? We were less than a foot from her, she could have used the wand on the register and scanned the phones. [redacted] states In her response she states we had no way of paying for services? She took a credit card payment from us as well as we had the groupons, she can't keep her stories straight. All [redacted] could do was threaten over and over to call the police but when we told her to please do so, she refused to do so, but She had no problems keeping the girls from leaving the store until I got there. As for yelp, yes, when I receive a horrible experience I want other customers to hear what happened, to beware of poor service, scams and shady business owners. Isn't that why yelp is there? To help people avoid these types of situations? I would never have found out that [redacted] has tried this scam on other customers if it wasn't for yelp. I've never complained about another store in that center as [redacted] states in her response. I never threatened to yelp [redacted] or her business while in her presence. She got that from snooping around on my name and seeing a yelp comment. [redacted] refused to let us speak to the owner, told us she was calling the owner but now I find out she is the owner. Why lie to us? This entire situation is shady. On yelp there is a comment that [redacted] often lies about being the owner or not for her own personal Benefit of keeping clients. If your a decent, respectful, legal business who's services are good, all these lies do not make sense and there is no need for them. Whether your the owner or not should not matter, there was no reason to lie to us. I am not sure about the license aspect of the business but these girls were asking questions because one of the girls is in school for the very same career and wanted to know about other Experiences, schooling and etc... We have a call into the cosmetology board checking out the business aspect of this company. Two of the girls had to have their brows redone and fixed due to sloppy work done by [redacted].
[redacted] states we are not welcome back, with such a horrible visit, poor work, threats of violence and police, this woman tried to scam all 4 of us, there will not be a chance we would ever go back there and honestly I would never recommend her services. She needs help running a business by the looks of the bad comments left on complaint forums. She tried very hard to scam 3 girls and I caught onto it, this is not how a business thrives. I have been refunded by groupon immediately after my complaint. [redacted] needs to apologize and learn from her shady actions. I do hope she gets investigated. We had no issues paying for any services but we did have groupons and apparently that is her issue. We don't expect to get services for free and that is not what this complaint is about. The complaint is about trying to scam customers, threats of violence, and poor business ethics. We feel so strongly about this we chose to let others know our bad experience and that is why we contacted you. Another one of the parents had also complained to Revdex.com but [redacted] would not address the issue.
